Second ride on the rebuilt engine today. A "gingerly" 10km yesterday - all seemed well - a bit of carb synch rattle at idle. Gave it a good rev-varied ride without complaint. A bit of an oil leak from the pan - I guess cos I reused the flattened old one...being tight arsed...since I plan dumping the oil and pulling off the pan to check the oil pump screen after about 200-400km.
Today - 50km including 10km of twisties. Kept it below 6k revs or thereabouts..sounds and runs nice. All my fears and thoughts of inadequacy seemed to have vanished. ;D
Got home - installed new points, checked timing - all good. So did a carb synch with Morgan Carbtune....was out quite a ways - but OK for a very rough guess type of bench synch. Pulled the plugs - all nice and grey/brown.

No worries mate, happy to help. You see I've recently elected myself as the forum's "Good Taste Moderator" and in accordance with my new appointment, it's my sworn duty to inform other members if something they've put on their bike looks like crap.

It might hurt a litttle if you read it here, but the good thing is, once you bounce it off me and I give it the "thumbs up", you can be sure that everyone else will like it too, so it's very constructive criticism. I know, I really should be charging for this valuable service, but in the spirit of international friendship, and as my contribution to forum volunteering, I'll be happy to offer my opinion free of charge.

You're quite correct too, that "Lounge Suite" in your latest pic might be really comfy on a long ride, but looks disgusting. I've got one here that I had tastefully recovered in a "basket weave" vinyl material, but I just couldn't bring myself to put it on a CB750, due to my incredible sense of good taste. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

No problem, Dimitri's done a reasonable job with that pipe, it might not be the best possible option for his bike, but I'm guessing he's on a tight budget, so all things considered. not bad. I also like the bike he brought home today, and I'm hoping he does something tastefull with that. I'll be watching....... Cheers, Terry. ;D

Haha thanks terry. Most of the people that comment on my exhaust say it's hideous because it absolutely does not look like it belongs. But you're right, I was on a tight budget and the can itself was free. Don't get me wrong, I'll be replacing it with something proper as soon as I can afford it.

Sorry to disappoint though, the zx7r I bought today is a "parts only" bike, and the main reason I bought it was for the carbs; my friend plans on putting them on his zx6r from the same period. Not sure what I'll be doing with the rest of it though. Some of the plastics are good, so those are going to new homes. As are the bars, wheels, tires, brakes, etc. I might see if I can do a USD fork swap to my bike, but that all depends on if I get rid of these R6 forks I have.

No worries mate. One of my army mates was killed on a ZX7R back in the early 1990's. Very sad day, he was a good bloke and he was just unlucky, he got T boned by a Toyota 4WD. His girlfriend, who was on the back, was unhurt, he took the full impact. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Seems like a good deal to me Larry, just make sure that goes in your will, by my calculations you'll be 115 and I'll be 102 when I finish paying you, but my sons, who'll be in their late 70's, might still enjoy that beautiful bike! ;D

Terry as the good taste moderator?

Have you seen the Triumph he rides??

Have you seen the whiskey he drinks???

Besides which - this means I will have to do a full wardrobe check each time before I call round to see him, in case I get pulled up on what I am wearing.

Please people - don't do this to Terry, and don't do this to the rest of us over here.

Hang on Cliff, I take umbrage to those remarks, my Triumph is superb, (when it's not imploding) and I only drink whiskey that you buy me! ;D

Cleaned up the "dashboard" area by putting on my polished triple top and handlebar clamp on the K4.

The originals had scratches and needed help:

Now polished...

Then had to take a ride on the twisties down to the lake...

More cleaning/inspection/assembly of the latest project "Red Dog" that has intervened on the progress of project "Evolution". Red Dog (78 CB750F) seemed promising in that it did not APPEAR to need much to make it run... Duh-Oh! Write up on project Red Dog coming soon in "project bikes".
