Thanks, it's getting there. Bought a frt fender in excellant cond, just need to fit it and do a couple other cosmetic fixes. Fun bike to ride and now dont have to worry about the battery dying...

Well after all my drama's I've had with replacing the front Comstar wheel on my bike because it's got a dent in the rim, I found out today that I can get the dent rolled out locally for 60 bucks.

I wish I'd known that before I spent 150 bucks getting the wrong wheel sent out from the US, poop! Oh well, as long as it gets me back on the road, no biggie, I should have it back by Friday.

I also bought some fork seals and some carb cleaner, but even though it's quite warm, it's dribbling rain outside, and as there's not enough room in the Turdis to swing a small cat at the mo, I'll do it tomorrow. Cheers, Terry.

I finally got my #3 carb to stop barfing gas and hold a proper float level, about goddam time too...

I've had this same problem on my friend's bike.
I've even swapped the float, pin, and needle with no luck. The towers are fine and not rounded out at all.
I'm without a clue.

I had the same problem on a CB750 recently mate, it turns out one float arm was slightly bent, and the float was getting snagged on the inside of the float chamber, holding the float valve open, and flooding gas out of the airbox. It was an easy fix, once I realised what the problem was. Cheers, Terry.

Despite the rain, it was warm enough to go for a ride and buy some new coloured wire from a vintage wiring loom maker out east.

Now I can build myself a new CB450 wiring harness.

This vintage wiring loom place had the coolest old machines - they 'knit' cloth covering over single wire or over looms, in all sorts of colours and patterns.



Excellent - now to find one of those machines...

Yeah mate, I had that problem around the same time you posted your carb findings, but I didn't have that problem, Ken's K1 had only done 5000 miles from new, and the contact tab on the float arms were unmarked. Cheers, Terry.

I discovered that the main fuse had melted the fuse box. Obviously, I should have cleaned up the connections before putting the 400 back into service. Looks like I'll be buying one of HondaMan's fuse boxes.

Rode it to breakfast, dang it was cold. Found an oil leak went to my local bike guru, he found me some oil line crush washers to fix it. woo hoo one more bug getting worked out.

I was planning on half burying you face down and using the bit sticking out as a bike stand - so you be useful when I work on bikes even after you are gone.

Are you going to rubber mount it..?  Aluminum brackets are notorious for breaking when used as direct frame mounted bracket for the oil cooler, i always make them out of mild steel and rubber mount them...

Well, the cooler is rubber mounted to the aluminum bracket, but I was going to bolt the bracket to the horn mount. Think I need to rubber mount the bracket, too? Or would it still be prone to breaking? I was going to tie down the oil lines to/from the cooler, to help keep vibration/ movement to a minimum.

The vibrations eventually fatigue the aluminum causing it to crack, there have been a couple of failures of aluminum brackets on the forum, the one i read of recently was on a race bike..  If it were me, i would be rubber mounting the bracket as well, just to lower the pitch of the vibration, if that makes any sense...

Thats the one Brian, thanks. I think the cooler being "softer" went first, i think over time that the allow mount would go as well unless rubber mounted. I don't think one manufacturer that fits coolers stock use an alloy bracket, none were on any of the bikes i have owned. Its like my mates boat trailer, he had some really nice alloy mud guards made for it with all alloy mounts, they just kept breaking, he now has steel brackets bolted to the guards and so far so good....
