Busy, busy busy now guit loafing around drinking fine grade Scotch and get them dam# fork seals in Terry.
Okay, I took your advice Eric and got up early, stripped my forks, cleaned all the goop out, then wire wheeled all the corrosion and crap of the fork sliders, buffed them to give them a bit of a shine, machined up an alloy seal driver, smacked the new seals in, re-assembled them, tipped in some new oil, re-installed my right caliper, bled the brakes, and went for a ride. Phew.
It's still breaking down between 5000 and 7500 RPM, but once past that hurdle, it screams up to it's 9750 RPM redline. Weird. I noticed that one coil has been replaced, and as I reckon I was very thorough cleaning the carbs yesterday, I'm wondering if it's an ignition problem. Before I get too excited, I'll pull the petcock and see if it's not partially blocked, there's an inline filter though, and it looks pretty clean. Oh well, I'll work it out, eventually............
