What did you do to your bike today ?

I have 110's in momma's. stock is 105.  Well, if they are the same carb number as when new.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Cleaned the carbs on the Planet Blue K5. It was #2 Terry, not #3. Also did some cosmetic restoration, personally I don't care for rattle canned black engine covers...

Had some spares laying around and swapped em out....

Then started her up and took a test ride down to the local park. Beautiful day.....

Oops, sorry Steve, I didn't realise that your bike's got the fuel tap (pet rooster?) on the left side, hence #2 carb blocked, and not #3. It certainly looks much better with the chrome covers mate, well done! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Sold my '73 500 the other day :( , new owner picking it up the 28th. Picked up a '78 750 with a '74 motor in it today off a member on here. Going to be stripping it completely apart and doing a ton of stuff to it over winter.

Terry, they mount right up to the existing spigots.  I will have to ding the underside of the 500's smaller tank to make room for the 2 & 3 carbs' tops.

No worries mate, be careful with the K0 carb mounting bracket, it's fragile and will snap if you try to force the carbs on or off. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I remembered that picture, and that was the motivation to go straight for the heat, not force to remove the practically glued on float bowls.  Broke the tip off my favorite Kershaw knife being stupid...Grrr  >:(

Geez I had a Kershaw knife many years ago, I wonder what I've done with it? I just checked Ebay and (shock horror) it looks like Kershaw knives are now made in China? That sucks.  >:(

Cleaned up the triple tree and figured out how to work the steering lock. Turns out the replacement key I had doesn't have a groove at the top, so I had to use the OEM key it was traced from.

Picked up boxes for my top end and swingarm. Stupid me putting it off forever and now I'm paying the price with the wait time.

Well while I'm waiting for my new 34mm Mikuni carbs for my CX500 to arrive, I decided to get off my butt today and do something mechanical. I like the look of the stock mufflers but I believe that they're pretty restrictive, so my initial thoughts were to drill out the rivets and "gut them". I drilled them out and quite liked the symmetrical holes, so I fired it up and Woohoo! It's got a note!

Of course, my assumption was that drilling them out would allow them to come out, but in fact, I couldn't even lever the caps off with a long handled screwdriver, but what the heck, it sounds so good I don't care. I gave 'em a squirt with some satin black paint, and they look almost "factory".

I bought some new rear shocks from an Ebay seller in Brisbane, he was fantastic, he set them up for my CX500 with the correct bushes, so there was no mucking about, I had them on in around an hour. (the hardest part was removing the mufflers so I could access the mounting hardware.

All in all, a nice easy day. I did a little bit of work, and went for a ride to the pub. The bike sounds like a "proper" V twin now, not too loud, but probably a little louder than legal. Cheers, Terry.  happy0062

Today...  Installed Cycle Exchange lightened & balanced Alternator rotor.  I had to pick up a Milwaukee electric impact wrench to break the bolt loose on the old one.  I don't think that bolt had been turned since my CB's birth in '72!

No reports on performance improvements as it's been pissing down rain & sleet for the past few days.
