Assembled/installed the rings/pistons on the rods, and put the cylanders on my FO motor. Just got my carbs, and ported head back from Hondaman. Had to stop before doing the head install, as I need 2 more O-rings. Why doesn't someone make a gasket kit with all the parts needed? Frustrating.

Brought it home. As they say, 'some assembly required'. LOL

Whoa Danny!  Does this mean ur back in the in-line four game??
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

I bought another Wang! That's right, I now have my 1986 Interstate 1200 "Road Sofa", and this 1976 rolling chassis. I was hoping to rebuild my spare 1200 engine and slot it in, but apparently that's a major task, so I might have to buy a GL1000 or 1100 engine instead.

Not a lot to look at yet, but as Lau Tzu said, "a journey of 1000 miles begins with one step" Wow, I've got 2 wangs, if this was a James Bond movie, I'd be "The Man with 2 Wangs"! ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Yes indeed.

My goal is together and running by the weekend of June 8-9, but we'll see how that goes as I still have things to do on both my Goldwing and my MGB-GT. I'll have a better sense of timing once I dig into the box of parts this weekend and see what I have and more importantly, don't have.

Terry, you just need to get your Wing to look like mine, and I need to get my new 550 to look like one of your SOHC's.  8)

Got the o-rings to finish my engine. Put the head on, and torque'd it down. Looks like a motor again.

I finally quit procrastinating and stripped the frame yesterday.  Today I finished the prep and shot the first of the paint.
QUESTION: The motor is not ready to go back in just yet. When the paint is cured I'm tempted to put the front end on (it's ready) and the swing arm so that I will have a "roller".  But that may make the re-installation of the engine quite a bit harder.  What says the group???

Wait if you can, because it's incredibly easier to just drop the frame on a motor.  Otherwise you could chip the paint, and you'd have to find some way to slide the motor in - it can/has been done, but is much more work.

I bought this CX500 for my son, he was admiring mine way too much for comfort, so I decided he needed his own. Let the games begin! ;D

Sorted through the box of parts that came with the basket case '77 550F I bought last week. See my thread in the project board for details. But in general it's 99% complete. The engine turns freely, and someone started to do some work as the tops and float bowls on the carbs have been polished.

So one slug wasn't enough Terry? ...Larry

Ha ha, they're only a slug in standard form Larry. Honda restricted the heck out of them with horrible CV carbs and a thing called a "H Box" under the engine that connects the two header pipes and acts as a big arsed muffler before the gases pass thru the two conventional mufflers. Luckily for me, there's a CX genius in North Carolina who's come up with a dyno tested Mikuni carb kit for them, and with a straight thru exhaust, the "Slug" becomes a joy to ride!

Of course, any 500 with water cooling weighing the same as a CB750 is still a little underpowered, so I've aquired a 650 engine for mine. The stock 650 engine (673cc to be precise) is around 3 BHP down on a CB750 (but 18 BHP more than the 500) but bolt on the Mikuni's and the straight thru pipe, and they're good for over 75 BHP, so the slug becomes a serpent!

My son is only a "learner rider", so we'll leave his engine stock for the time being, but he wants to customise it, so the horrible seat, tail section, headlight nacelle etc, will all go. I'm not sure exactly what he plans to do with it, but I'm sure you'll agree than any mods will be an improvement! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Been working on the Planet Blue K5 this week. Decided to put a black Kerker I had on it so gave it a fresh coat of 1200* VHT...

Removed the rattled canned left engine side covers and this motor is remarkably clean inside, odo reads only 8K miles...

The PO fabricated this awesome ignition switch holder but call me old school, I prefer the original! Had this one "on the shelf", prepped it and gave it two coats of semi gloss.

Had these covers on the shelf, buttoned em up with socket head screws, mounted the ig switch and the Kerker...

So, here is how she sits now. She is running, but fair at best. Need to buy some plugs and tune, mount fender and wire the rear light.

What I have done over the past week-

I soda-blasted the crankcase and cylinders because the PO had used the wrong paint, inconsistently prepped the surfaces (some paint was peeling), and painted the cylinders (which should have been left bare). I also blasted the airbox.

The powder-coaters finished with the frame, stands, and a couple of brackets. A nice semi-gloss finish has replaced the PO's rattle-can paint.

I just hit the underside and back of the crankcase with Duplicolor DE1615 Aluminum.

Thanks.  I have a tank and side covers for a future project being painted now, he only charged me $250 (strip, prep and paint).
I'll drop off "your" tank and "Frankie" smoothie side covers for Poly Blue paint when I pick it up.
