wound the bike out to 10k and now I have a valve ticking coming from I believe cylinder 1. Either 1 or 2 but pretty sure it is one

I'm really hoping it is just a clearance adjustment needed it would be disheartening to find out the first time I whipped it a little that I hurt the engine a bit

You wouldn't be the first one to do that...likely just needs the tappets adjusted again.

Yeah actually just fixed it. I popped off #1 exhaust, saw nothing got worried. Popped of #1 intake and saw what I expected. Light tap marks on the cover and a 3/4" of play on the rocker lol. Quick 15 min fix

Well, there is still a lot of snow around in New England.  I put my battery on the charger to be sure it would be ready and took a look at the beasts to be sure they would be ready in the near future.

If its a 750 check the valves adjusters soon to make sure a nut did not come loose  and is starting to tap the inspection cover before it falls off. That has happened before also.

Sold the K6...Wahoooooo!

Sold the K5....Wahoooooo!

Then the buyer calls me twenty min later "Hey the bike just died, WTF?".  I asked, You got fuel? Switch it to reserve.  He said "Ok, thanks, it started!"     Rookie.

That is a sweet looking bike, the new owner must be a happy camper.

Rode to work again today, weathers been nice lately for a change. Love how the air cooled bikes run in the cold spring air, hauls ass.

last night...drilled out my gauge mount bracket stays and dropped the whole bracket down below the upper triple mount holes.
amazing how a GOOD valve adjustment can reduce/remove smoking on startup  ::)
hastily done cam chain adjustment didnt reduce chatter as hoped.  carbs and airbox coming off to get at this proper.
fork top caps raised, tarozzi brace delivered today.  Installed easily.  Nice hardware.
....and for last nights snow to melt ;D

Pulled the "new" '77 550K out of storage, loaded it on the truck and brought it home.

Tried starting it when I took delivery last year but could not get it to start. But, it was late, dark and didnt have much time to deal with it.
Once home, put the battery charger on it and checked tank for fuel.
Fuel, choke and crank it over. Nothing. Remove fuel line from petcock and check fuel flow, good. Removed inline filter, dont like em.
Crank again and comes to life! Running a little rough but after warmed up, its running pretty good. Aired up the tires and I'm off!

New front wheel bearings, adjusted tapered steering bearings and took steel wool to my front rim and spokes, looked at my bank website and saw that my check to the great state of Vermont has cleared- that means plates on the way!

Looks really good! Didnt know you that in hiding! Is the front end stock? Seems different or maybe it's the angle of the pic. What are your plans for it?

'Twas a beautiful day today, sun shining, only around 70 deg F, so a great day to work on the bikes, or go for a ride. Instead, I sat on my arse and did nothing. Oh well, tomorrow's another day........ ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

You got that right!

Tews - good eye, the PO did install longer tubes on it, hope the new owner likes it.

Momo - you should recognize the tie down straps, bought them at Home D.

The snow is melting.  It was almost 40 deg. F today.  I went into the garage and took a look at my babies.  They looked ready for a new season of excitement.   The batteries have been on the charger and are ready to go.  Perhaps next week we will hit the road.

Went for a ride with my wife over to a buddy's house, was a nice sunny day. Good times all around, hope we lit a fire under our friends ass to get insurance on his bikes and get riding.
