I was watching it on e-Bay.  Are you happy with the price?

Trevor

Schidt yeah, I only paid $700 for it originally, then put around another 1500 into it, so $1000 profit is excellent Trev, particularly at this time of year. I only paid $2285 for the BMW, so this has paid for the BM, some new parts, a roadworthy, and 12 months rego. Excellent............. ;D

Good one Terry.... ;D

Thanks Mick! ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

That's a great price.  I've been seeing some real bargains recently...  the economy must be worse than Julia's letting on...

Maybe you've hit on a way to make some pocket money...

That bike would rust away and return to the earth from which it came around here for that kind of money Terry. Good for you,you seem to have a golden touch on your projects.Congrats--- and nice job on the mods you made to it,sure that helped.   Eric

Thanks Eric, and even around these parts that's a high price for a CX500. I've been lucky, every bike I've sold (apart from my F2, F's are just not worth restoring sadly) I've made money on.

I have a simple philosophy, if you want to flip a bike for profit, fix whatever's wrong with it so that the new owner can just get on it and ride, and it'll do well. I sold it on eBay (start price was $1000) and the top bidder bought it for his dad, he was a nice kid.

If you try to sell a non-runner, or a leaker, or one with horrible cosmetics, expect to have your pants pulled down, because you deserve to. This might not work for all, but so far, it works for me. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Congrats Terry, nice sale.  Always good to make a K on a bike.
And so true, good runners sell, sometimes even if they're ugly.

Terry I just cant sell a bike that has much wrong with it, so I end up fixing everything before I sell it, just like you.
Its the only way to go because if you don't, buyers have a way of coming back to haunt you anyway.

Have a couple friends that do the same thing and always seem to double their money at least, they always pick the right bikes though. Buy a fixer upper, fix everything proper and ride it for a while then sell it and fund the next one.

I put a new front tire on today on my '72 CB500 and while I was at it I tried something that I hope will stop my front brake squeak.  The pads are new Honda parts and they are pretty noisy. I took them out and cleaned the backs good then I applied 3M brand disc brake anti noise lube. I got this stuff from a buddy who claims it's God's gift for brake noise. I've only had a chance to run it up and down the alley behind my garage so far but leaning on the front brake pretty hard I've gotten no noise. I hope that's cured it but I'll probably find out for sure this weekend.

got her registered and insured! very easy here in GA. had a police officer fill out a small form printed from the DMV website, then got my insurance online. took the form, bill of sale (no title on pre 1986 bikes) prrof of insurance, and my license to my tag office. in 10 minutes and $22 I was out with my plate!

Took the bike up to 83 today. absolutely terrifying. I also put my first 50 miles on her. Can't wait to get out again :D

Installed a set of AllBalls steering stem tapered bearings. Took all of 5 mins once the tear down to the bearings was complete. Decided to get wild and throw on a set of clip on's I got from a fellow member on here. I had to chop up an old top clamp I had lying around so that they would fit, but unfortunately they are not long enough for all of the crap that needs to be on the bars. So I'll be moving some stuff around and machining some extensions via a tapered insert so that the throttle tube doesn't snap off.

I got as far as getting everything but the gauge cluster on, I'm going to have to make some mounts for it thanks to the front brake line being a pain. It's pouring here in Minneapolis so I have some time.

Happy Builds.

Crappy cellphone pics come as standard around here, and the mess just proves that you do your own work.  No apologies required.  And the seat looks proper!

Great looking bike!  Mess = productivity.   ;)

BTW, that's one solid/strong looking garage door you have there.  Do you live in a fortress?   ;D  Just kidding.  Appears to be a bit more secure than the typical pressed steel type most Americans have.

Finished stripping my CB550 down to the frame, and removed the old worn-out steering bearing races from the frame neck.

my computer got a ransome virus-lost everything I had on it. I've spent the last year documenting my cafe K3 build, so I could do a build thread. Lost all the pictures of the work I've done, so far. Bike is 75% done, and not 1 picture of anything I've done, except some pics since I put the motor in.  Really sucks. Not even a picture of the junkyard/basketcase I started with. Without pics, my build didn't happen. At least on this forum. Oh well, doubt if anyone would have cared anyway, but me. Just another cafe racer.
