Went picking at a junk yard.  Scored a 750 K1 front fender and a complete set of HM404's for my '77 550K  ;D
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Grips on, cleaned up exhaust, put that on, rerouted the brake line, readjusted the clutch, changed the spark plugs, polished up the controls, took some pictures.  8)

Yesterday we pulled off the front wheel and rebuilt the front brake. Put a few things back on and forgot to take pics. I gave Kit the shifter off mine. Then today, what Kit said.  ;D

Oh, and Kit went "vrooooom, vroooom" on it.  :D

Well this is more like "what did I do to my bike this week", but this is the first chance I've had to post some pics.

First I made some billet alloy brackets for the new fender:

Then I installed new mini speedo and tach, GL1000 headlight and new blinkers to replace all the trashed items:

Gave it a wash, and finally, it's ready to roll:

It was getting late and I was knackered after another 6 or 7 hours today, so I parked it in the garage, but tomorrow, we ride! ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

I had a stuck motor. I had a nice piece of delron plastic that is dense and hard. I had a hammer and I beat on the pistons until they let go of the cylinder bores. I will post  pic or two somewhere soon.

I felt like Bam Bam on the flintstones BAM BAM.... BAM BAM BAM!

It finally let loose.

Terry, these are beautiful pics. This is a beautiful bike, but one quetion, what are the dimples in the triple trees?

Is that erosion, or bubbles from the original casting come to the surface now that you shaved them?

Put gas in Kit's CL350 and it started right up like it's just been waiting.  8)

Kit took it for a spin, we washed it finally and then took it for more spins. Not licensed yet so just in the parking lot for now. She ordered a safe seat and we will get some new tires on it. It still needs to be tuned but it's pulling pretty strong.

Otherwise, we got on the bigger bikes this morning and went out for breakfast. Lots of stares at Kit, as usual. One older guy in the car with his wife at the light... checking out her CB650, smiling, pointing, you could tell he was doing the "I remember when" story to her... priceless.  ;D

I RODE IT!!!!! Today I finally got it all back together -- with no oil leaks this time -- and put 200 miles on it. First long ride after top & bottom end rebuild. Pulls like a horse, or more like forty horses, and idles like a sewing machine.

Now I'm looking forward to QUITE SOME TIME before I have to get back inside there.

the 650 got some love, too.  I did some poking around here and there on the forum and after seeing that there are others who have to get two wrings of throttle to go WOT, I realized I wasn't alone in my 60-70 mph wrist discomfort.  Found a post on here where CrisPDuk says a honda Fireblade throttle sleeve fits the 550 pod housing.  I bought one from Motionpro and put it on.  It fits perfectly, and the throttle feels much more like the Harley's  (and the more modern bikes I've looked at) aside from the super-heavy return spring.

the 350 needs some love and adjustment... especially new tires... but she runs!

Put new spark plug caps on, changed the oil & filter.  Rode it around the neighborhood with no helmet.

Cleaned the wheels from the chain lube, put a coat of wax on the tank.
