Dry run of my Halloween costume...
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Struggling to take the rear shocks apart, BUT, managed to take the gauges apart. Now, on to supporting one of our sponsor and ordering a new set of faces and possibly glass covers. See build thread for details.

Pulled the rear fender and fender B from my CB550.  Worked long and hard at getting rust off the underside of the fender and eventually coated underside with rust preventative. Looks pretty good now. Fender B was in great shape, a good scrubbing was all it needed. Cleaned chrome on taillight assembly and again had to remove surface rust from underside. Need to get some chrome polish and hope it will disguise some minor pitting. Any recommendations?

Replaced the ignition key switch with a DPST toggle switch and repositioned under the seat.  Why, you ask?  One of the few things I've done, just because.

Real nice day today in Michigan so thought I would take my everyday rider from home to the shop for the winter. Took the long way of course. Hope we get some more days before its over.
Also been doing a huge remodel on my shop, even some interior painting. Moved 9 bikes so far and many loads of non motorcycle antique stuff down to an extra house I have. Feels good to give it a good purge, and Goodwill likes it also  ;)  Will put up some pictures when I'm done.

Didn't put stabilizer in, didn't drain carbs or anything else either come to think of it, just got on and rode it around the English countryside on a beautiful cool day.

Fair enough mate, I guess you'd be used to cool days in the old Dart? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Looks great Eric, and I love those old "Lake Pipes", I've got a set here that I'd like to put on one of my 750's one day, once I work out how to put a baffle in them, they appear to be "straight outs"? Cheers, Terry. ;D

Hey that looks good mate, I've got a hydraulic table but blew the seal when I left Ken's K1 sitting on it without putting the prop bar in place, so I've thought about doing something similar.

I bought my dad a hydraulic 4 tonne log splitter which is pretty much useless for Aussie hardwood, so I thought I might turn my air/hydraulic table into an electric/hydraulic unit with the pump and ram from the log splitter? Cheers, Terry. ;D

The K8's front brake was dragging a little on a ride yesterday so I thought I would pull it and have a look.

Still soaking chrome pieces and nuts and bolts in Evaporust, pulled the diffusers out of exhaust pipes to bead blast and paint.

What did you use for the chem? I'm pretty close to setting up the electrolysis stuff, might be a good idea to have a chem backup :)

More disassembly, took of the oil tank after draining all the oil from the tank, filter and the engine. Footpegs, shift lever, brake lever are all off. Then the fugly stuff happened, broke my impact driver, followed by my small size socket driver, followed by the 3/8th socket wrench trying to get the bolt holding the engine to the frame on the lower right side. Damned thing doesn't want to come off. I guess this is what happens when you don't invest in Craftsmen tools.
