I did sell it. it was either the Wing or the MG, and since it's 19 degrees F here right now and snowing, the MG is more useful. Never fear though, I am finally doing the needed body work on the MG and plan to sell it in the Spring and I have my eye on a naked '77 Wing languishing next to a house a few miles from where I live.

So hopefully the MG will fund completion of the 550 project and another Wang for me. :)

Fair enough Danny, I've got a soft spot for old MG's too, but don't stay 'Wang-less for too long mate, everyone needs at least one big 'Wang. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

I've has a couple of MG's (B's & a C), great car in the winter.  Not much good though once the snow is over 6", and it packs up under the car enough to lift the wheels off the ground. ;D ;D

A local auto shop owes me a favor and have agreed to help me pull out the old swing arm bushings and install new ones when I have them. Very nervous right now because I have to leave it overnight, they want to bake it first. Also, they tell me there are a total of four bushings in there. As if someone couldn't get them out and banged the new ones on top of the old ones. Did people really do that?

What bike is this? Nevertheless, likely just 2 bushings. What they think is bushing 3 and 4 is the "collar" which welds itself to the real bushinigs and has to be pressed or cut out as well. The collar is a pipe that runs the width of the swingarm tube. It is mashed between the frame members making it immobile. The swingarm properly bushed then rotates on the collar. Only as much as the swingarm can, which isn't much.

Often, as mentioned, the collar becomes affixed to the bushings thru rust and or corrosion. Drive it out first. Then go for the real bushings.  Get a micro fishy to look at: motogrid.com or favorite parts source.

Dumb question but sorta relevant, they aren't talking about your shock bushings as the third and fourth?

Also a lot of people miss the collar despite thinking it is out

Last night..  I lined my original dunstall tank and ended up sealing it off around the baffle.  I was not pleased with myself.

Took apart the air box and cleaned it out last night. Found an SKF auth distrib just two miles from me, ordered these for the wheels. How do these prices look?

6302zz x2 @ $12.85 each
6304zz x2 @ $19.12 each
6305zz x1 @ $22.38

Update: Cleaned an inspected the frame, relieved that it hasn't rusted through anywhere. AND, a surprise! I have no idea where it was hiding but when I turned the frame upside down, the original battery holder strap fell out of it! Should I have shaken it some more to see what else is hidden in it :p?

IIWM, i'd have purchased the All Balls kits with the seals included, F&R, and had enough left over for the tapered steering bearings, a burger and a six-pack to reward me for a good days work
NTN bearings are nice and I surely wont wear them out in my lifetime.

NTN bearings are nice and I surely wont wear them out in my lifetime.
I thought the ZZs are already double sealed. Will be picking them up on my way home so I'll know for sure then I suppose. After searching a lot and from Hondaman's book, NTN was the least favored option because it is no longer the same company that made them back in the day. SKF>KML>something else>NTN was the conclusion from all my searching. As for All Balls, its a no brainer for the steering stem, but not so much for the wheels and tranny.

I just cant think of anyone here who has had a bad experience with an all balls kit, unless they fooked it up during install.  ;D

Thanks, I picked it up about two months ago and have been taking apart, rubbing, loving, and re-assembling.
I've got most of the crud out of the tank and exposed a few small pin holes that need to be fixed and get some tires. I should have it all squared away by the end of the year.

Hmm, I'll check if the old ones are in there. I know these are a bit pricey but hey, considering what a pain these are to work on, I'd rather install these and never think about it ;) Also, these were quite literally down the street from me so I got lazy :p

Ordered new fork tubes and rear shocks for my cafe project. Cycle X finally got new fork tubes in stock, again.

Turns out SKF notation doesn't use zz, its 2ZJEM something or the other and these were metal shielded. I could hear Hondaman in the back of my head "Don't make that mistake". SKF's are the 2RS for rubber seals, gotta go back tomorrow for those.

Looked at mine longingly as I moved the snow blower up to the front of the garage.  >:(
