Decided to drop the oil pan to see what might be hiding in there. I have never dropped it when I change the oil. (don't ask why). Dang,
who's idea was this again?
Why did Honda weld the bolts in there? I broke out the impact wrench and that made all the difference. No broken or stripped bolts or holes. Wow, gears look great.
(nice and clean)
Wow, look at all that crud in the bottom of the pan. looks like graphite paste.
My last 2 cans or carb cleaner later and some time spent at the drill press with a wire wheel everything shines like new. I found a good size roll of rubberized gasket material at the auto parts store to make new gaskets. (worked great) I did the clutch cover too because I think that's where the oil seep was. Used my last on hand filter and stink-en Wal-mart no longer sells the fram 6009/6012 I need.
Dang!!! I broke the kickstart bolt off. Well at least it broke where it's still holds the leaver tight so I can use it until I have to pull the clutch cover off again.
I guess the only way to remove it now is to get out Mr. Dremel and cut the bolt at the gap to remove the leaver so I can drill it out. Bummer.
Well that's it for me.
P.S. I did make a great little drain/catch pan out of beer cans so I can drain the float bowels without the gas going on the trans.
When in doubt drink another beer, it may help.
