Good choice on those Timeserts, they're quality stuff.

They really seem to be infinitely better quality than heli coils and once you make the initial investment it's fine. Especially for how many 6mm holes we have on our bikes.

Burned my hand on #4 exhaust. The perfect setup - 1,2,3 warm and 4 really hot. I swear I heard my skin sizzle :)

Other than that new plugs and refreshed cabel ends and also clean idle nozzles.

I stared at it.  Started up up to run the fuel out of its bowls and put in some stabilizer that I forgot to do when I refilled the tank.  Planned a trip with my father for OBX in June from Raleigh.

Put the repainted K8 tank on my K4 - now just need to sort out the seat - solo or stock looking double?

How it was before painting with K1 seat

Terry, the 4-1 look nice!  Yoshimura from the old days?

Yeah mate, the owner who bought it new in the early 1980's gave it to me for free because he was sick of not having a centre stand. Bonus! ;D

I want that model. Yamiya has new replicas, welded versions without the smooth and beautiful bends. Other stainless replicas are bended too much upwards.

Yeah mate, I don't know why they can't just copy the original, mine is a much better fit around the frame than those knockoffs too. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Cleaned up some more hardware (this is never ending) and finished round 1 of sanding down the front hub and fork legs.

Today I found out something very interesting and slightly distressing (really not that bad). So I got my "71 750K1" from a friend 2 years ago. And he originally got it from his friends dad on a trade. My friend never rode it and it sat for 10 years. He got it up and running and sold it to me always. He was always told it was a 71 and he always told me it was a 71. It's kind of a mish mash of parts, unicorn tree, hm300 pipes, air box from a 750F, the tank was repaired black at some point. When I got it I was a complete noob and just accepted that it was 71 and never thought to check the VIN to the production charts.

well long story short, I decided to check my VIN today (have to re register my this week) only to find out in fact my frame and engine is actually a K2!! My mind was friggin blown. Now I guess it still could have been produced in 1971 correct? But I know longer have a K1, it's a K2! Man I feel weird right now.

Wrestled with the carb rack on my 550 to remove them for cleaning and install of new inlet boots. Definitely need another 1/2 inch to get the buggers out easier!

Hi Andy,
The K4/K8 paint looks really cool.  We'll need pics of both seats on the bike, before offering informed opinions ;D ;D ;D

Had to change my signal flashers to LED because filaments on rears were burning out due to vibrations. Finished soldering in diodes today using close to factory wiring colors , shrink tubing and bullet style connectors, not making a single splice. All works now, and I have signals again.

Really bad that a real old badge broke. The paint did not got any scratches?  That's even worse. There are new badges out there, new copies might look not that bad. I bought new aftermarket in later K6 style from Yamiya. Looked very good.
Paint thread is very welcome!
