Those blocks would be best on a 750. As MC noted those holes in the back has a bolt that goes through and attaches to this on a 750 swingarm, an axle stop.

Your block is a different design v the OP's.

I both cases the rear hld down blt is required. You have yours. I think the OP's bike is a 500/550, with a 750 part on it. There is no place for that bolt to go.

I bought it from a guy on the forum who had it on a 750. Ive got a 78 750k. What am I missing and how can I fix it of anything? what is in danger of being damaged?

That probably explains what I'm seeing. The tails of your swingarm (78) must be different than a pre (likely) 77. I mistook it for a 500/550.

AS ekpent shows, you should have those chain adjuster blocks. IF you don't, those lowering blocks won't work on your bike. The tail HAS to be held down by a bolt thru the block and thru the swingarm tails and that block threaded into the botton tail of the swingarm. All parts you don't have.

If you don't tie that block down, it will rotate up and down and not sure of the exact conseqences, but I wouldn't ride it.

The fix would be a pre-77 swingarm, maybe.

What if I fabbed a piece of metal that connected the axel istelf to where the shock attaches to the end of the block? That would get the diseried effect, correct?

I was in this exact situation (cut frame) and Gordon East/Ilbikes here saved my project. He makes and sells the Gordon Frame Kit, and for mine, he also arranged for the missing tubing.

That would be a good way to go, just my 2c.

Cutting the frame tubes out, for access to the engine without removing it, was a common practice back when. OFten such bikes went on to live productive ives sans tubes.

Its still a popular thing, though most contempory cuts are now patched back with a "frame tube kit" of various designs. Unfortunatey, your tubes are cut to the quick, there's not enough tube left to install a kit. But a skilled machinist/welder can fix that back toot sweet. You may have to strip things off to get room to maneuver.

In all seriousness, its a rigidity issue. The bike will work just fine for the most part but its better with the tubes

Mine were cut pretty badly too, both front and rear, but fortunately I know an exceptional welder who was able to make it work

I can't recall exactly but missing tubes cause some kinda frame warping on high speed cornering and such, but I'll let the experts weigh in on that.

+ 10 on making the frame as Solid and stable as you can;these frames need all the Rigidity they can get !
