Brought home my latest purchase yesterday, a '78 550K. Bought it last week just south of Austin, very fair deal. It ran, I rode it around the park lot, no engine issues. I get it home, turn fuel on, starts right up but gas is pouring down from the carb area...WTF?! [didnt leak on two occasions last week]
Thinking sticky float...no. Fuel line came off petcock...no. fuel line leak...yes!
Some "engineer" thought it would be ok to piece together the fuel line! This is a new one to me.
The fuel line from the petcock went into the larger one and then that one went over the smaller one leading to the carb....WTF??!!
Oh well, easy fix, had new fuel line on the shelf, 10 min later I was off and running!
The bike runs fantastic but if you look closely, there is some minor damage, the bike was laid down at some point. Only 8K miles, no rust, new Dunlops, original exhaust in nearly perfect shape - how do you lay a bike down and not scrape the exhaust?? This will be a fun one, parts are on the way...
