After working on rebuilding it all winter. I worked up the nerve to start it! What's the best way to repair a leaking petcock on a 78?

Was eyeballing one last year in the springtime, was too much work and money to get it back to stock trim unfortunately Stev-o. It may be blasphemous but I'm most likely buying an Yamaha R6 off a close friend, been thinking about a sport bike for a couple years. I know the history on this one and the price is right.

Stripped the swingarm down to bare metal. Looks way better than I thought I'd get it. I'll post pics tomorrow.

I don't think I can save the pivot bolt though, it's a rusted mess with a lot of deep pitting and the threads were beaten to hell too.

Tore down a rolling cb650 parts bike today, sold my wife's Ct125 to a friend of the girl that bought my xr250. When I removed the rear brake hub on the cb650 I found one of the brake shoe linings had seperated at some point, damn PO had drilled through the lining and show and put it all back together with wood screws. Gotta laugh.

Starting to look like I'm going to have lots of free space in the garage with another parts bike torn down and two dirt bikes off to new homes!

Ordered plenty of parts, mostly spares and tools. I'm building up a tool kit to keep on the bike.

Going on the bike soon will be a new solid state reg/rect and the throttle holder thumbscrew for the Right switch. That will be nice for those cold mornings.

Cleaned up my caliper nicely. Dremel + Wire brush = clean groove! Seems to improve the brake's performance. Haven't ridden it yet since, but rolling back and forth seems to have the brake pad retracting better than it did before. I also took the dremel + wire brush to the male connectors on the hard brake pipe. They were showing surface rust and some fluid was leaking.

Gonna rant no comments necessary

Well after a rear turn stem problem I purchased some new ones for the cb350f since they don't make them anymore multiple members swore to  me that the aftermarket cb750 would work just fine.  They don't the nipple is too big so I decided on filing the new stems nipples down but since the nipples are so close to the flush mounting of the stems I didn't realize I was hitting that too.  so frustrating.  so new stems plus new file = 30 bucks lost plus time wasted.

I am about to put the bike back in the storage unit! so I guess begin restore was @ feb 2009 = 5 year restore.  this thing is never gonna be done!
There is nothing to fear but fear itself . . . and trying to restore a cb350f

Zinc plated bits and pieces as it was 70+ today, had few hours to kill after work. ALMOST there, can't wait for the long weekend, aiming to get the frame+swingarm stripped and primed.

Hey Mo - powder coating the swing arm is a better option.

Was just innocently working down in the shop today on a project that I hope will make a young man's dreams come true someday (Damn pumper carbs-suck) and an old biker Buddy of mine I have not seen this spring yet rolls in on his Harley and the next thing I know I own two of his old bikes and a bike lift  ::) and am going to store his nice red K1 I resurrected for Him a few years ago.
He got a super job with Stryker here in Kazoo and will be making 6 figures out in Orange County CA which will be great for his family.  Maybe if I can afford a plane ticket someday I will have a place to crash now on the left coast  ;D   Gotta keep some grease in the wheel  ;)
Think its just cheaper and safer to say at home and watch the grass grow------

Hey Stev-o, trying to keep it as close to stock and under budget :(, spent some money on getting it rebuilt by Hondaman instead :)

He gave me a sweetheart deal on his 15,000 mile V65 Sabre he bought new and a low mileage CB900C with a nice set of extra stock exhaust pipes He got from an original owner. Those along with his bike lift for a grand seemed like a fair deal and He wanted me to have them, especially the V65. Neither are my favorite bikes but I have been curious to try on one of those big V4's if there are any cams left on the top-end  ;) Can't lose too bad on the deal and it helps him out + I have to keep the red K1 alive and well. Hate riding those things around. Anyways its only money, they will keep printing more-------

The price of those takes a little of the fun out of it for me but I will say they are very fun to ride.
