Topic: What did you do to your bike today ?

I took advantage of some free time and nice weather to get my 550 almost roadworthy today.

Rebuilt and cleaned the forks I got from Tews, made a bracket to hang the 4-1 exhaust, installed some Biltwell tracker bars, mounted a new front brake caliper, master cylinder, and stainless line from Slingshot (still need to bleed), mounted the headlight with a new bucket and some cheap brackets, and ran it for a second to see if the new valve cover gaskets were holding up. All in all, a good day. And it's starting to look like a bike I'd want to ride!

I plan to install a new (used) wiring harness, tires, and go through the carbs before taking it out. Getting anxious.

I solved my mileage issue! And it isn't something that I am proud of.

Rhonda is... a basket case. In every sense of the word. '71 carbs on a '75 engine, for example. Well I had a lightbulb moment on Friday, and I wondered if the petcock was aftermarket, too... YEP IT IS. I'm doing 171KM on about 3Gals before hitting reserve, rather than 4.7... So my mileage is actually in the mid-30s for MPG WHICH IS AVERAGE for spirited riding which I mostly do. I feel like a dumbass. Basically my long straw will only take about half the tank. I should get about 300KM to a full tank by my calculations. GEEZ. how embarrassing. Sorry I took up everyone's time with mileage thread... 

Fast forward to tonight...

Took my wife out for her first ride on my bike, and my first time taking a passenger. Had a great ride until the end...

We were turning right (signaled with blinkers AND wife used hand signals about 100m before turn), and the #$%* behind us PASSED US ON THE RIGHT. No injuries, but a nasty scare (we have a 1 y/o daughter).  I saw him coming because my wife warned me about him a few intersections before, and he was riding my ass all down the road.

Luckily my GoPro was recording, and I got his make, model, plate and face! Police were called, and ticket is being issued. Oh. And he wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

Doesn't sound like you are calculating your mileage accurately.  The proper way is reset your trip odometer when filling your tank.  Then, next time you fill up, note the miles ridden and divide by the amount of gallons needed to refill to same level, that will give you an accurate MPG average. 
(BTW - I do it in my truck but never on my bikes).

Drilled extra holes in the clutch basket, zinced up brake rod, brake stay and engine mount long bolts, nearly done with the gauges.

She definitely will. She grew up on the back of bikes.

I know about the mileage thing now... I just feel like a dumbass. Just assuming from the beginning and never pausing to think.

Cleaned carbs, replaced jets, needles, and adjusted float height. Also got my front brake bled in about three minutes with the help of a speed bleeder bolt. Every bleed port bolt in the world should be a speed bleeder!

Yes - I covered my tank and tail in tweed, and I was one of the corner markers for the Melbourne, Australia ride.

We had over 300 bikes of all sorts, including many Honda SOHC fours.

Love that you dressed your bike! I rode here in Las Vegas, we had about 120. I had my wife pick out some clothes for me, as I don't own many nice clothes!

I did the same as you did. But when I ordered mine on eBay he canceled my order. He then tried charging me down for 2! We even had a chat on the phone which he said it was my fault. I like the exhaust but it was an #$%* move on him.
