That STP additive may possibly just be some snake oil if you want good zinc. Here is one test somebody did on the stuff. Is it for cars that have high mileage already ? http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2701357#Post2701357

This is all that I could find locally. I'll try it, and probably get the good stuff for next oil change.

Replaced the oil stopper seal and spring in my K3 oil pump, to stop the oil draining into engine from oil tank. A lot of work, without a bike lift, and the oil still drains into the motor. No idea's what to do now. Can't ride it like this.

I used lucas gas treatment in my 750 a while back and hasn't run since.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________

I should clarify: Hasn't run right since.

I get backfiring and no power, dropped the bowls, pulled jets, cleaned, reinstalled no change.

Have the carbs off setting float levels, (correctly I hope) and blowing all passages, hope this will work.

Will put some electrical tape around clamped area of the manifolds, due to clamps feeling loose when removed.

Finished rebuilding carbs. Few highlights (details in build thread)

Ultrasonically cleaned (I know they look a bit dirty, was handling them after lubing during assembly, will clean it up on installation)
All NOS brass and rubbers
Polished all Aluminum (backplate didn't get the chrome finish, because even I don't have the patience for it)
Zinced every last bit on them (except the cotters, thanks to harisuluv!)

If it has less zinc than the oil you are using that is not good and if you use 20/50 you don't want it getting thicker. May be good for a very tired old smoking engine on its last leg, kind of like Motor Honey.

Finally got mine all back together and rode it some today.  Honda NOS head gasket, new transmission forks, third and fourth gear, better set of carbs, fork brace, added dual disc & new m/c, new cables that fit the superbike bar, proper Honda rear lester wheel instead of an adapted Kaw lester, redone speedo/tach assemblies with green LED lighting, and a charging indicator.  If it wasn't for the clutch rattle I'd swear I was on a different bike.

That's a good looker. Any plans to badge it? (just wonderin')  Proof that a cafe'd, or semi cafe" bike can look good with fenders. Very nice. Do the Lesters allow you to run tubeless?

TY for all the compliments, guys!  It's a work in progress, but for the time being hope to ride & enjoy the bike as it is for awhile.

That's a good looker. Any plans to badge it? (just wonderin')  Proof that a cafe'd, or semi cafe" bike can look good with fenders. Very nice. Do the Lesters allow you to run tubeless?

Yes I'm hoping to put a set of K0 badges on the tank.  It's really not a cafe (Ricky Racer's great seat makes it look cafe-ish) it's a conglomeration of CB750 parts of all years.

The Lesters do allow you to run tubeless, but they don't have an extra "rib" inside like modern rims do, so it's not quite as safe for hard cornering as current wheels are.  Right now the rear is running tubeless, and when I get some new tires, will make the front tubeless as well.  Like the idea of being able to run a plug in it if (heaven forbid) I pick up a nail somewhere inbetween bumbledodge, KS and Nowhere, OK.

Gaskets, piston rings, swing arm bushes arrived so I decided to lap some valves. Then got side tracked with Bundaberg Rum. Oh well, maybe tomorrow for the valve springs.

Ever think of powder-coating the carb bodies? Would complete the blacked out under-tank area nicely.

im got  a used broke valve head for cb 550 ..and started to test ..if i can run some rivals through the oval borings... to get Space for some bushings..and still hold it senteret..

its possibel to go the hole vay trough..by drilling a bit matrial aut at the camthain tunnel. area  its a bit smaller,, to block so the shaft not are run through to the tunnel then i can run the rival through the tunnel and veiter to the NeXT boring..its help holding it all sentered..NeXT step are to make some hardent 12 mm shafts..150 mm long..so i can use 4 long..instead for 8 short..it vill also make them more stabile..and them make some locking mekanism..by use 3-4 rivals and take ,05 mm pr stk..i hope to get drilled aut to 14,0 or 15 mm..and make some bushings 12 inside and 15 autside and eventuell tig veld them in..so no glue are used..i can run a rival through to klean up..like velding better then lockteit...but both vill vork fine i think

I finally wrapped things up on installing a boyer bransden ignition on my 750, I took my time doing it because I didn't want to butcher the existing wiring harness but still have good connections. I fired it up yesterday and after setting the timing it at least sounds pretty good but weather outside was too miserable for a test ride and the way the forecast looks I may have to wait a few days before I do.
