Ekpent has a clean pair that would probably match perfectly.

Yeah, but Eric doest sell....
true in general.  He has sold stuff to me.  You just have to convince him you need it more than his collection does.  He sold 3 or 4 bikes this fall.

Dig the Valley Green....wonder if the VMR will fade to match the tank in like 20 more years?  Ekpent has a clean pair that would probably match perfectly.  I know 'cuz I sold them to him.

Shut up!  You're not supposed to notice that! ;)

To be honest, that was my only complaint.  That the new side covers make the tank look worse.  I can live with it, though.  I mean I was fine with those #$%*ty, Rustoleum-painted side covers for that long.  I did consider repainting the tank briefly, but aside from the expected fading the finish is in really good shape.  I think 20 years from now is a good time-frame for repainting the tank.  Do you think I'll still be able to get gas for it by then?

no, you are right, fresh sidecovers are a huge improvement and I have had the same syndrome in effect on a couple different bikes...wish you had grabbed up my original valley green sidies before I sold them to Ekpent.  It's a great under-rated Honda color and I hope to own one someday.

I would hand buff the crap outta that tank.  It almost looks like the mis-match is more from the shine than the color.

I actually did just that shortly after taking those pictures.  It had been a couple of years since I really polished up the tank, and it made a noticeable difference.  It's still not as vibrant a green as the side covers, but they look good together.  Regardless, it's a better match than what I had before, and now I have another project to look forward to in the future!

Got the K6 back on the road, another one saved!  Bought this from a woman about 3 years ago for $300, been setting in her garage for who knows how long??

Cleaned carbs, tuned up, new tires and tank and off I went.  Running pretty good but have an electrical gremlin, will figure it out tomorrow.

Here's what I started with...

Fiddled with carbs, set float bowl ( I think), rode 5 minutes in 30 degree weather and then went back inside.

Went for my Annual New Years Day Ride.

Decided to take the Puch, hadnt run it in about a month and needed to move it off the lift.

The little 49cc bike screams, but then ya look down and you're only going 35mph!

Short ride, very cold here today [45F]....

There's always tomorrow, Fred.  It's next in the rotation and luckily doesn't have to be a Holiday to ride it!

I rode my Sporty over to my mate Jeff's motorcycle shop to have him do a "Roadworthy" inspection, which is part of the registration process here in Victoria.

It passed with flying colors, as you'd expect from a bike with only 4000 miles on the odometer, so now I can take it to VICROADS (DMV) on Wednesday and give them a thousand bucks or so, in exchange for a little piece of tin (number plate) to bolt onto it, to make it legal at long last, hallelujah! Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Yeah, it sucks balls Larry, the annual fee is around 700 (which covers personal injury insurance) and the rest is government charges when you put a bike back on the road. Once the bike's over 25 years old though, I can get "club registration", which only costs around 70 bucks per year. 4 years to go..... ;D

Ha ha, thanks, but no thanks Fred. This isn't my first Sporty, and I could have just as easily have bought a "Full Size" Harley instead of this one, but I'll let you into a little secret mate, I prefer Sportsters.

Why? Better ground clearance and a nice rigid frame means that they don't scrape, wobble and wallow when pushed hard thru corners, they have 50% less weight, and believe it or not, a little more BHP than the 1340 in the "full size" Harley's of the same era.

It's a bit like the difference between a CB750 and a Goldwing Fred. Not everyone thinks a Goldwing is an "upgrade"........... Cheers, Terry. ;D

Ha ha, bring that shiny POS F bomb over here Jerry and I'll take you for a ride that will decide who the real girl is! You know that the only reason your three ex-wives didn't take it when they left you is because they had too much pride, yeah? ;D
