Wiped down the K6, got all the winter dust off and the winter polish. Checked the tires, Checked the Oil, all was fine.
Turned the key on, with the kill switch off, and pushed the button. Let it build Oil Pressure then started her up.
Let it idle a bit to check for leaks. There were none so I put my helmet, jacket and gloves on and went for a nice little ride on a 70 F afternoon here in NJ.

Bloody hell, I've been riding my bikes to work every day for the last 4 weeks and I thought I was tough riding in sub 10 deg C temps at 0630, but I just realised that compared tou you, I'm a woolly woofter!

I look like the michelin man... wool sweater, winter jacket liner, then bike jacket... kevlar, jeans, and then overpants on bottom. Plus the big winter gloves.

What I REALLY need is some of those neoprene hand warmers that cover the grips. Keeps the wind off!

I'm not sure I've seen them mate, I'll have to check them out, but both of the bikes I have in Canberra are fitted with hand warmers, which are nice. Cheers, Terry.

- Re-attached oil lines and secured them down
- Re-inserted (with a lot of cursing) rubber isolaters for the battery
- Discovered my harness is completely butchered and glad I have one on order
- Discovered my headlight is a 6.25" from a Suzuki bike converted to H4
- Pulled the forks and got rid of the blue and through some black paint on them.
- Pulled the caliper and found the pads are really really crooked lol

Did a few other things but that was the majority today.

Thanks Jerry! It was just as I left it, smoooooth

I did the usual stuff, new plugs, some MMO in the cyls, primed the engine and it fired right up! As soon as that happened, I lost all interest in cleaning and just went out riding

Felt bad after, I should have at least dusted and buffed up the shine

Fiddled with a couple projects Saturday then decided to activate this K2 as the weather was great. Only have put around 50 miles on it since I got it. First ride last fall and it was puking fork oil from the left side so new fork seals this winter and also replaced the sides tand and its no longer a 'leaner'. Ran great after starting but a new issue. The front brake master goes soft quickly and needs a couple of pumps to start working,like its bleeding back up through the master ? Tried a powerbleed. Works but not to safe on the road yet but still a nice ride on a pretty spring day. Guess a rebuild on that hopefully will fix.

Fiddled with the front brakes this weekend.
Speedo cable must be routed outside of the fender bracket to stay free from the disc.

Remove front wheel means removal of the right brake, caliper w holder.

Went to start the CB750. Battery low (even though was on a float charger). Got it started and found one of the copper exhaust gaskets was leaking badly. Gave up for the day. After 15 kicks got the BSA started and went for a ride. Got the CB up on the workstand. Will fix the leak during the week and install the new battery. Time to quit for the day.

That's a sweet looking K2 Eric! Hey, did you try bleeding your top hose at the MC? Wrap a rag around the top banjo fitting at the MC, (to stop brake fluid blowing eveywhere) pump the lever until it feels firm(ish) and while holding the lever in, crack the bolt. Tighten the bolt, pump the lever and repeat. After fcuking around with the brakes on my FJ1200 for a coons age I tried this, and now I've got a rock hard lever. Look out ladies!

I will give it a try Terry, never had this problem before. Like I mentioned the lever will be firm but after a few minutes it will go limp but if I give it a couple pulls it starts to firm up again. Jezzuz that sure sounds like something else doesn't it- maybe crumble up a Viagra and add a little to the cup----

Fixed all the above problems, then proceeded to drop it off the work stand. Trapped me between the bike and my 77 Monte Carlo. Wife was able to help me get it back upright on the stand. Left side switch housing smashed. Mirror broken on the Monte. Left elbow starting to hurt like a MoFo. No riding for a while. Time to go surf FleeBay for a switch.

Extracted my much neglected 2nd 500 from the back of the garage and put my just painted flake sunrise orange 550F back there instead - I have to pull it's engine back out and since the 500 has its nice tank back and only needs carb tuning and a clutch pushrod installed I will turn my attention to that first.

Aw, man, that's a drag... Kudos to your wife, though, for helping to get you out of a pinch! Amazing what adrenaline can do--750s aren't the lightest bikes out there!

The bruises are starting to show now. My wife is a real helper, all 4'10" 110 lbs. of her. My best friend for 43 years.

More grinding making alu dust

70mm sleeves often called tapered sleeves that need no case bore...hmmm. No news for me though.

Did one this evening, case 4.
3 left for tomorrow. Mostly the front halves of the holes in the case that need to be wider. I use an old metal base gasket sitting tight around the sleeves as guide when mark with pen. Lift the gasket and grind. gasket on and compare...gasket off and grind some more...

Have to hurry up so I can mount the cases, cyl + piston and check how high the piston crown will go at TDC. Important for the mechanic working with the head. Need at least CR 10.5:1.

Busy today! Gave my 2nd CB500 some attention:

-drained the oil
-pulled off the clutch cover and the sprocket cover, replaced the broken clutch pushrod
-replaced the pushrod seal and the gear shift shaft seal and the oil pump cap o ring
-reassembled everything and filled up with new oil
-removed the carbs, cleaned the fuel valves and set the float levels lower
-replaced the leaky float bowl o rings with shaped ones super glued in at the corners
-set the idle screws at 1 turn out (they were at 2.5 turns out)
-pulled out the needles and put the original ones back in clipped at #4
-reinstalled them on the bike, two carbs pissed out the overflow so I turned off the fuel and drained those two bowls
-then had to do one of them again
-vacuum synced the carbs
-reset the idle screws to 1.5 turns
Took her for a ride, filled up the fuel. After a bit she started to run rich as #$%* dagnammit still! I'm nearly ready to give up on these reconditioned carbs!
On the plus side there are no oil drips under her get ...touchwood.
