Well on Saturday April 23rd  I took my CB750 for it's first ride on the street.  After about 10 months, I got to ride it!  ;D  During those 10 months, I changed out the fenders, the exhaust, tires, seat, horn, added blinkers, had the carbs off several times, and had the oil lines rebuilt.  Slow but steady.   Still have some tuning to do, but it ran pretty good.  I'm a happy camper.

Tom

Congrats Tom, looks good, nice job.  Snap some pics in the sun so we can see that paint shine!

Stev-o,

Thanks!  About the time I took a few pics, I was enjoying a beer in the shade with my Honda, feeling kind of proud that another SOHC has been brought back to life.  Here in "sunny" Tucson, shade is appreciated.  I'll get some pics in the sun and post them.

Tom

I can understand that but thankfully it hasnt hit 90 here in TX yet.

Spent a considerable amount of time today cursing Yamabond and whoever felt it was necessary to glue on every damn gasket on the XS650.  >:(
Spent the rest of time slathering on paint stripper and scraping with a razor blade.

I mean seriously, whoever worked on this bike must have mistaken it for a old Brit twin.

Last grind session on the upper case so the 70mm sleeves fit with clearance all around. 67.5mm bores, 901,75cc. (Often called 915cc kit)
My K6 case must have extra meet since the 70mm sleeves are sold to fit withput case bore.

Good reason for extra cleaning of the case. Blow it clean with air removed most of the alu dust but much left outside and inside, channels too. Cleaned with dish washer powder and used a big syringe to fluch all channels clean plus the small debris collecting compartments in front of the bores inside.
Then another rincse session with clean waater. Blowed it dry in channels and outside with my compressor.

Upper case will mate with lower case tomorrow, seal and torque it.
pewe did you get a new piston kit and sleeves?bill

Finally got around to fitting Frank's frame kit to my CB750G. Made a VJMC shed day out of it which was well attended.

Installed new carb boots and velocity stacks. Airbox was more of a PITA than I thought it would be with new rubber until I figured out the carbs needed pushed down a bit to get the velocity stacks to seat properly. Oh, and I bought a 919  ;D

I'll be interested to see how you go with that Dave, I don't think I've ever seen one installed successfully without splitting the cases? Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Wire-wheel'd off all the old paint from my exhaust, and then sprayed with several coats of self-priming BBQ paint. I'll be interested to see how this turns out. ;D

As well as swapping out a spark plug cap, I also fixed the 'can't select neutral when hot' problem my 500 has always had - turns out it was the #$%*ty old aftermarket clutch cable - I changed it today because a process of elimination with fixing my stiff clutch lever - I hoped changing it would fix the hard to pull lever - last link in the clutch release chain - but I had learned to live with the difficulty getting neutral when hot!

I think it went well. Will have to check for leaks after a longer ride.
