Didn't do anything today but yesterday changed oil and filter on my Suzuki. First time since 2011, only did 3,600 miles in 7 yrs. Full synthetic looked pretty much the same coming out as it did going in?
For some reason I prefer riding 40+ yr old Honda's to 23 yr old Suzuki's? I did find a 6mm Allen screwdriver I lost (Proto, quite expensive when I bought it.) Silencer and pipe have to come off to get to to drain plug, someone put it into collector for whatever reason? The Allen Key is still perfect but plastic handle went missing years ago. Beginning to wonder if it was cause of unknown (and unfound) rattle that's been bugging me last few times I rode it? Guess I'll find out when I fit new battery tomorrow
I fake being smart pretty good

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thanks mate, yep I heard the CFA are predicting bushfires, and considering that they light most of them, they'd know! ;D

Well it hasn't snowed for two weeks and the forecast doesn't have any real promises for next week so I took the 550 out of storage.  The battery is down a bit and even with a booster battery could only get a few cranks out of it.  Won't have been so bad if it wasn't for the fact the storage trailer does not have AC.  Trailer is downhill from the house and I did not feel strong enough to push the bike up to the house.  Grabbed the ATV and used its winch and a tow strap attached to the crash bar of the bike to pull the bike.  The winch has a wireless remote that enabled me to guide the bike while it was being pulled.

Battery is now hooked up to the charger.  Tomorrow I will get it started or order a new battery.  Anyone use BikeMaster Plantium II?  If I have to replace the Yusua,  I want to go with something with more cranking amps.

Yeah mate, all CFA ("We light 'em, then we fight 'em") jokes aside, there are hundreds of fire bugs around Melbourne, I remember reading about all the other bushfires that were deliberately lit following Black Saturday, it was scary.

My cousin saw a guy driving along the Princes Highway near our home town throwing burning boxes of matches out the window of his car one day, he couldn't chase him because he had to stop and put the fires out, but he knew who he was so paid him a visit and broke both his hands. Problem solved. ;D

Took the front wheel off the 500K1, removed the tyre/tube/rim tape and de-spoked.
Rear wheel de-spoked last week.  Rims are to be replaced (same as original, supplied by a mate) and new spokes purchased.
The Suzi GS750E becomes the daily rider for the time being. :)

Got the bike started for the first time this year  :).  The battery is bad  :(.  Had to use the booster mode of the battery charger to get it going.

Well, I rode the CB750K1 today, and shook out some little flaws, the throttle cables both vibrated loose from the linkage mounts, so fixed that... and the start wire kept pulling loose from the connector in the headlight shell... re-routed that... then, I picked up a clutch cable from Pat at the shop, and installed THAT! Now, it's running quite well after setting the dwell at 24.7degrees! All in all, a satisfyingly, cold pre-spring sunny day!

Gday terry, yeah the rims (particularly the rear) are in a pretty poor state...lots of deep pitting and scoring and lots of rust on the inside.  Front rim is a bit better.  I may be able to flog them off for a few bucks.

Took the Suzi for a run up to Lake Leschenaultia with the Classic M/C Club last Sunday.  About 80kms from my place.  Great fun and the bike performed well!  8)
Going for a short caravan holiday between Easter and school hols, then back home in time for a longer ride!

Brazed up a few new holes in the tank of my 750F project after I went through round 1 of the liner removal, figured out some DPO had attached the main power in wire that runs from the starter solenoid to the fuse box to the starter side of the solenoid instead of the battery side, determined the ignition switch is not fixable, started the repairs on the damaged tail housing on the seat, and replaced the tail light assembly when I discovered the reflector was water damaged (I had thought I only needed to replace a cracked lens).

The 750 was yesterday, today I hit Moto Guild to work on the 550. The first order of business was figuring out why I had no power. The answer was a bad connection on the solenoid end of the positive battery cable. With that sorted reconnected the various biullets in the headlight shell, reconnected the fuel hoses and fired her up.

A few jobs left to do: new pucks and valve cover gaskets, get the airbox rubbers to seal properly, pick up a fresh air filter, install a new seat cover, remove the oilmpressure gauge and replace with the OEM pressure warning light. I like the infonof the gauge, but not the look. Plus the cheap gauges don't handle the vibrations well.

I don't know if you've ever read the instructions on wax packaging stryboen but your supposed to buff it off!
I used something from a yellow bottle on a car windscreen 15 years ago. The window became milky white when the water hit it. Not as nice as I had hoped.

Car wax is OK on a visor and entire helmet, the liquid type. To get the dried insects off, cover the helmet with soft tissues soaked in glass cleaner and let it work for 30 minutes. then wipe it gently off.
Trickier to get the kamikaze insects out of the helmets air inlets.

It depends... this Danish product is easier to use
