I never replace the bowl gaskets on 750 roundtop carbs if they are still original. They pretty much last forever and are carb dunk friendly. Don't try to pick them out, just leave them be. The 'new' rubber ones are junk and can swell with gasoline and be a royal pain in the ass. Those are the only ones I have had to replace and usually with an old stocker. Listen to me now and believe me later.  ;) ;)  Other then those not much more in the way of gaskets for them.  I am just putting the finishing touches on an orange F0,started it today. Line the tank and I am done. Pics coming soon--------------------

I am not so concerned with the float bowls, but I want to pull the jets to make sure they are clear and at least one has an o-ring.

I picked up a POR15 tank liner kit last Friday and that is on the agenda too, but the tank needs more prep first.

none of the jets or pilot screws have o-rings...buy fuel t o-rings and bowl drain screw seals (some years have o-ring, some have aluminum washer)  There is a gasket for the float valve...most likely re-useable.  CB750k1-k6 and f0/f1 carb kits contain mostly useless, inferior stuff.  Just clean and replace individual parts as needed from Honda.
If it works good, it looks good...

...but you still have the Scout! It probably doesn't ride as nice as the CB750 though...
Now, I was at the Honda East dealer here in Toledo, and saw one of the new Venture Royales, 1800cc or so... but, it was a V-Twin! Again, Yamaha (Star) missed the boat. They need that Monster V-Max engine (1670cc or so) slotted into the luxury liner, and get some serious BALLS into that touring machine.
The original V-Max was made from the Venture 1200cc engine, and they missed the boat back then, as the V-4 was essentially two of the Vision V-Twins side by side, to make the V-4... now how much trouble would it have been to slot that V-4 into a sport touring chassis like the Yamaha Vision, and call it...
The Double Vision... get Foreigner to endorse it.. I can hear it now.. OOOOOO...ooooo my Double Vision... Now there would have been a seriously wicked machine... :D

If you break down the rack those fuel tube o-rings getting replaced can be good insurance. they take 8 and I bought a bag of them off e-bay for a very good price. Sorry I can't remember the size right off my head. The other ring around the fuel jet holder is a red fiber ring which is re-usable. You will find these carbs to be the easiest ones you have ever cleaned, very simple and easy.

Sadly I didn't know that going in, I assumed that the jets were similar to the 550 carbs with O-rings on the main jet. I could have saved myself $50. Oh well.

They would probably take returns and shipping them back First Class would be pretty cheap if you don't think you need them.

Changed my oil which caused a pretty #$%*ty leak right at the drain bolt, after some further inspection it looks like there has been some welding done around the bolt to the oil pan....I'm swapping a 550 in there anyway but it still sucks to lose so much oil until I'm ready to make that swap. I learn a little more every time and I'm starting to become quite the inspector when looking to buy another project.

Synced my carbs and knocked off that heavy (and useless) center stand. I can't use it with my exhaust pipe anyway, so it makes the bike look much cleaner to have it off.

Your signature says you have a 500 project, swap over the pan or grab one off Ebay,  it should be hard or expensive to find one.

Hub for my extra rear wheel, sanded and polished a little. Got the bearings in today, no problem with this hub. Rim and spokes to be mounted, trued and tightened. When done another Heidenau K36 4.0-18 will be wrestled on the rim. Have all parts, just to do it.

Finished my last part on my early spring F0 resto. Ran it off the slave tank recently but need the real deal now. I only line tanks as a last resort but as seen in the pic this one had been patched up sometime before it was put away in 1986. What the F is the deal on these Effin' F tanks. They sure seem to rot very easily. Noticed when I was rolling some nuts and bolts around the inside with my acid that the metal 'sounds and feels' thinner. At a little under 50 degrees it was warm enough outside to de-rust but since my wife had left around 7:00 AM to catch a casino bus I moved the stinky liner process indoors where it was warm in the entryway. She still smelled it tonight when she got home- busted-  ;D ;D  Tank can now sit and cure in my warm basement for quite awhile till the weather eventually breaks for good, going downhill this week. She is back to 100% stock,50lb muffler and all, I am pleased :D  Will post up some pics when I reunite the tank and bike back together.
Since I an tuned in and tooled up on effin F's I think I will delve into this yellow one next and start going through the brakes and all the other fun stuff. I have already done the 3,000 mile tune-up things and heard it run shortly after I bought it back whenever. Need to toss some fork seals in a K5 also so it will quit pissing on my floor  ;)

PS- That red you see under the tank is the blood of a goat I sacrificed to the Honda gods.   :o

I rebuilt the Brake Master Cylinder today with a new kit I had in storage, on my spare 350F. What a mission to get the circlip out and for a while I thought I was not going to succeed and maybe have to buy a complete unit. In the end I managed to prise it out by using a sharpened end of a chainsaw file. No way any of my circlip pliers were going to get anywhere close.

1800cc Charlie? Here's a pic of my 2300cc Triumph Rocket III, you gotta love that big bore grunt! ;D

Rocket Man 11 by terry prendergast, on Flickr

Hehe yeah, that engine is very nice... but you Do know, they make a turbo kit for the Rocket III that tucks away under the engine, behind the pipe... THAT is some serious HP and torque... The fellow who made it said you had better have a lot of straight road ahead of you, when you twist the throttle... :D
Charlie

Ha ha, yeah mate, I've got a Subaru turbo sitting in a box under the bench that might one day make it onto my bike, it's 11 years old in July but has only done 7000 miles (it's been in the family from new) so I'll wait until it's broken in before I start messing with it. I'm a turbo enthusiast, there's a blower kit available as well, but they both quote around the same rear wheel BHP, so the turbo's an easier option.

Interestingly enough there's a Rocket III expert in Adelaide who can extract 280 BHP at the wheel just by bumping up the compression, porting the head and installing his special cams. Nice, but a turbo is easiest for me, and these things are about the most fun you can have on two wheels in a straight line! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Wow, that orange tank is rotten Eric, I hope that liner works well! You're right about those effing F tanks too, they're made from tinfoil, my last F2 had a rusted out tank on it when I bought it, so I bought a tank from a pr1ck in NY that rotted out shortly after I painted it, and finally Tim Kasper sent me a perfect F3 tank from Texas, which was pretty much rust free. My first CB750 was a yellow F like that one, but I'm sure the ducktail thingy was the dark metallic grey color like the sidecovers?

How'd your wife do at the casino? I'd like to become a professional slot jockey one day, I think it's all the flashing lights and noise I like, reminds me of the view in my mirrors when I was young and irresponsible.......... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

One of the members here posted an ebay ad for a rhino horn top triple, and I was lucky to get it for the "Buy it now" price of $100. When I got home from work there were two boxes waiting for me, the top triple which is in excellent condition, and even comes with the handlebar clamps, original bolts and even the D washers.

The second box was a cheap 836cc kit I bought from CycleX. I was pissed off though, when I opened the box and saw the piss poor way that they'd packed it all, none of the pistons were wrapped in anything that would have protected them, they were in individual thin plastic bags, all thrown together in a larger plastic bag which also contained the rings (all in one bag) wrist pins and clips. The big bag of bits was then just thrown into a box with paper above and below to stop it all rolling around inside the box.

The pistons all have little "shelf scratches" and other marks which won't affect their performance, but it's a bit piss weak for a company that gets so much business from the SOHC4 community to treat their customers this way. I've bought a few things from them and this is my second "less than positive" experience with them, so I'm still trying to decide whether to leave them negative, or just neutral feedback. Either way, it won't be positive.

Apart from their piss poor packing, the pistons look good, they remind me of the old RC pistons I've put somewhere in my garage and have probably lost for all time............. ;D
