Spent the day with Sean (Belfast 2 Belfast). We added a set of “case savers” to his bike, that I had sitting around, and tidied up a few other deatails, including a very noisy starter motor (replaced). I seem to have sold my K8 that’s been sitting for 12 years. It started immediately and ran well. Installed a new battery, oil pressure gauge and electronic ignition at the new owners request. Cleaned out the caliper and filled it all with fresh brake fluid. New tires are next on the list.

What tires you using? I need to replace both the “NEW” tires on the K8 I’m selling (now 12 years old)! Going with a pair of Dunlop D404. Look good and fair price.

Sold the K8. Going through my notes and can’t believe I restored it over 12 years ago and +10 years since it was on the road! Most of the oil was in the sump, so moved it back into the tank. Plugs out, oiled the cylinders and got lots of oil pressure on the starter motor. Fresh plugs and fuel and it runs like a top!

The new owner wants electronic ignition, oil press. gauge, (both done)and it needs new tires (ordered). Today I need to find time to do a quick carb sync. And clean out the fuel tank. I stored it with two litres of gas mixed with 1 litre of two stroke oil. Stinks a bit, but looks clean inside.

Anybody need a set of Kendas with virtually no miles on them?

Front tire mounted and balanced on the K8. Pulled off the rear tire and waiting for that one. Same order came from two different places with different couriers!

First Dunlop D404 I’ve used. Good looking tire. Everything else is done and the guy sent me a healthy deposit. This one is SOLD!

Tidy bike, starts instantly and looks great. Very quiet compared to my earlier versions. It’s been “idle” since 2012.

Good to know it will be back on the road soon.

Bill….. you’re right. It’s my first cb750. The new guy really is the right person. He will take good care. I have a few just sitting around and I am determined to move them out.

Installed a new battery in the '74 CB550.  Rural King battery...  $49.00  Old WalMart battery lasted only 3 years.

Dennis...  74 CB550  79 CBX  82 Seca Turbo  2011 CBR  2012 NC700X

You will regret the bikes you DIDN'T buy much more than the ones you DID!!!  It's never too late to start a new adventure!

I bought a spare '76 tank off the cb750 Facebook forum. I need to paint mine, but was reluctant to have my bike out of commission for the amount of time it would take to do a proper paint job (minimum of 3-4 weeks with my schedule). Tank was in decent shape, but there was surface rust on the inside. I bought 3 gallons of EvapoRust and it's been soaking for the last 24 hours, with occasional rotations to cover all areas. Damn, that thing came out clean!
Rinsed it out a few times with warm water and then blew a ton of compressed air into it to get the rest out. (Compressor is on an air dryer, so it was clean/dry air). Put in a pint of 2 stroke oil and sloshed around to cover everything.
Currently draining the gas out of my current tank and I'll swap them out tonight and repeat the process!
Current Project: CB750-K6 (hoping for OEM look)
Future Project: CB750-K8  (likely go wild on this build)
