I named her dirty whore. Today is my 3 rd day out of work with strep throat. Feeling  better I decide to take the bike for a ride. A mile from home she blows the main fuse making me push her back home. Better does not mean well enough to push the bike home sigh.

15 amp fuses - Don't leave home without some! :D

First time I put on my riding jacket this spring I noticed something in the pocket...reached in and pulled out a whole wad of spare fuses that I put there just for that reason last fall. I found it quite funny...

Well, finally go some sort of fire to the points and apparently the plugs.
It kinda runs as long as I hold down the starter button. Let up and it dies.

3 and 4 cylinder exhaust pipes hot 1 and 2 cold.

Gas everywheres, probably used up 2 gallons of gas trying to figure this thing out.

Carbs are off and will clean them up tomorrow.
If it ain't raining, I'm riding.....~~{iii}?~~prost

Messed with emblems/diamonds http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=74022.msg987111#msg987111

Took the big side covers off of my bike to look around, got my left channel working and got my passenger floorboards.  Not too bad looking but still need some reviving.

I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I had the day off and my buddy's shop was open, so I put in a full day.

Pulled off the front wheel and removed the caliper. Put the front wheel back on and wheeled it outside. Degreased with Simple Green and Gunk Gel stuff, a couple of times. I think if I just do that 10 more times, it'll be halfway clean.

Let it dry, moved it back into the shop. Removed rusty old chain. Removed back wheel. Removed rear sprocket. Dismayed that Z1 sent me the wrong one as a replacement (different bolt pattern.) Removed old brake shoes. Installed new brake shoes. Put the old sprocket back on sloppy like. Put the back wheel back on sloppy like just to move it around.

Adjusted idle mixture in preparation to fire up the bike again. Noticed that my air box boots weren't on right. Determined that air box boots are just past Corundum on the Mohs hardness scale. Put boots in hot water to soften them up. Disillusioned when the softening lasted for about 60 seconds before returning to previous hardness. Felt guilt when my friend sliced open his hand when trying to put a hard boot back on the carbs.

At home, delighted in blowing the frozen piston out of the caliper with a grease gun. Cleaning the parts now. Purchased new air box boots.

Dropped fuel  tank on concrete  - big dent, loss of paint, fuel everywhere. ANGRY!!!  >:(  What an idiot!!!!

Not happy at all...now thinking of best solution - new glass tank? Fix and repaint old tank (and side covers)? Push whole bike into river and start again...?

I was just about to POR15 the inside before installing new petcock and rebuilt carbs....this has put a big spanner in the works.

Anyone know a good tank fixer in Melbourne, Australia??

Checked the timing, discovered and fixed a bad connection at the 1-2 coil, started it and took it for it's first ride since around 1981.

Beautiful day today!.  Polished the fork lowers with Blue Magic.  Put my 500Four emblem on the left side cover with emblem adhesive.  Went for a nice long ride.  Went out tonight to fill the gas tank up. ;D

finally a great day to ride today in the PNW, I rode the sh*t out of the bike and had a great time.  Only a couple more small things to work out and it should be dialed in.

Put 7 miles on her trying to clean her out with some sea foam in the gas and crank, put a new fuel line on, found out why my turn signals aren't flashing and hastened my search for front brakes.

Learned that #2 cylinder wasn't firing on Cory's CB550.  Upon investigation, discovered that the float was hanging up on it's hinge pin, which I bent while trying to remove it when I was working on the carbs over the winter.  After some careful filing, followed by fine sandpaper, it moved freely.  My son (Cameron, my oldest, home for Easter) put everything back together, and she runs like Ricky Bobby leaving the grocery store!  I had no idea it would have so much power once it was actually running on four cylinders!  A great day!

Learned that when the jets are tight, they are tight, even if theres a whole lot of threads showing.

Don't get a wrench and continue to tighten.

Anyone have some extra jet they want to get rid of?
