Rain gave way to sunshine, so I rode the 500 to work.  Started sputtering as I headed into a dark, long, fast tunnel...was running out of gas -- hit the reserve and rode on -- Phew!

Yesterday I replaced the throttle cables on her, and set the timing. Then I took her out for a ride. Discovered the brake light wasn't working. Replace the bulb, still not working with the rear brake. Adjusted the switch and I was good to go. Picked up my wife from work with the bike today running better than ever. About a hundred miles in the first two days of the season. Not bad.

Rode the heck out of it!  Just got back home to Texas a couple of hours ago after hauling godzilla across new mexico.  Me and my sohc four did 1,000 miles in four days!  I am proud of my old gal!  How many 40 year old bikes (non sohc bikes) could do this without so much as a hiccup!  Going west with Godzilla, I averaged around 33mpg going uphill and into the wind.  I had an all time low of 28 mpg going 70 mph into a 30 mph headwind right before the handoff in Lordsburg, NM! Over the 500 miles coming home, I had a tailwind.  Going home my mpg was 45, 47, 54, 51, 38, and 50 with speeds ranging from 60 to 75 mph.  Coming home, the 54 mpg was an all time best for me and my bike!  So I got my best and worst mpg on the same trip!  Thank god for the reliability and dependability of an sohc four because I was all alone for 1,000 miles!                    Justin Carthel, Littlefield, TX

Great Story jcarthel. Love these bikes. I installed my Innovate A/F LM-2 and shot a heat cycle in Infrared using a InfReC G120 camera. Not sure what it tells me but it looks cool.

Sweet toy. I think its pretty obvious what it tells us though. Arnold might have done alright with a CB as the Terminator but he would have been screwed against the Predator with one.

Welding, welding, welding...got almost everything welded up but ran out of time and had to head home. I hauled everything 550 miles to have my nephew weld it and it was worth every mile. All the pics I posted in the build thread are with fresh welds, no cleaning up so they do look a bit rough but I can take care of that and will.

That is way kewl!  It looks like the pipes actually get hotter than the cylinders.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I rode it! for the first time ever this year and it was the first time I ever rode a motorcycle, ever! with no instruction me and my 550/4 cruised around all day!

Tons of fun, I stalled at stop signs a bunch for the first little bit but I'm getting it down.

The only thing is my blinkers don't blink they only light up and my chain is hitting the center stand not because it is too loose it is correctly tensioned. Got to work those two problems out before I take it out again.

Rode to work morning and afternoon again in spite of the gloom and doom weather forecasts.
Had a couple of minutes extra time this afternoon, so I took a little ride and got to work twenty minutes later than I usually do. ;) ;D

Pulled the Carbs on my CB750 F2 and installed a different set. This set is 135 mains, 45 slow, clip position 2 from bottom. Synced carbs, but because of rain could not ride.

Today I got a valve spring compressor at the local sears and removed all my valves getting ready for my new valve seals.

I'm hoping this fixes my smoking problem.

I bought the bike a year ago and have been fixing it up since. I might start a build thread or a blog, they're fun to do and follow others.

Today, all I could do was look at those freaking emulsion tubes and think, damn if I only didn't screw them up, I could have this baby running.

As it is, I have to wait till I can find some that people aren't trying to get rich off of, to afford. Then, I think, I will be able to move to the next chapter of this bike.

Still, I think I really need also to get the factory handlebar controls to get the electronis to work correctly. Fires when starter button is pressed and quits when released.

If it ain't raining, I'm riding.....~~{iii}?~~prost

If it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, it's because I cut and pasted from someone else.

Prepped for the rally tomorrow!

Cleaned some bullet connections, and got down with some dielectric.  Checked the plugs, and cleaned 'em up.  1 and 2 were a little sooty after 300 or so miles, but 3 and four looked perfect.  I just didn't have the time to adjust the valves and do the carb sync...it's just going to have to wait.  I've got a little squealing coming from the front wheel (not the brake), hoping some fresh grease in the morning will make it well enough.

75 miles from SF to SC down 1, then back.  Should be fun!

tossed the old stock shocks on my 750, and replaced them with a set of hagon type a twin slim line shocks ($250 shipped from dave quinn motorcycles). i also drained the front forks and replaced the acrid gray oil with new 15-weight fork oil. what others had been saying is no exaggeration--its like i own a new bike. i was surprised to find that, while steadiness going over bumps and cracks in the road has definitely improved to a degree, by far the biggest improvement has been in overall handling. i can corner so much better that i now realize my bike was basically a danger to ride beforehand. it is such a joy to ride now. as i mentioned, initial absorption of impacts from potholes, bumps, and road seams is better (it'll never be great on this bike), but its the renewed damping ability of my suspension system that also makes all the difference. the bike takes the impacts, then immediately steadies itself, whereas beforehand i'd get fork dive and the rear would bottom out, and the whole thing would bob and weave long enough to be a significant distraction.

Worked on hand stitching a seat cover. I'm off of work for the week recovering from Hernia surgery. So in between movies and being comatose, I'm getting my stitch on.
