Rode to work this morning in the pouring rain, this probably isn't a suprise to anyone here anymore.  Been riding everyday rain or shine.  Was running late this afternoon.  Geared up and hopped on the bike.  Realized something was wrong before I even hit the street.  Looked down and found the rear tire was flat again! >:(  Rode back up to the house and tore may gear off and headed for the old CJ.  Its been over a week since I started it up, so I crossed my fingers and prayed.  After a lot of cranking it finally fired up.  Made it to work with very little time to spare.

My son  helped me get the bike up on its center stand when I got home.  Found nothing in the tread.  Pumped up the tire and had my son, with his younger ears, listen for a leak.  He couldn't hear any.  I grabbed a bottle of Windex from the house and sprayed down the tire. Nothing. Sprayed down the valve stem and sure enough bubbles from under the stem nuts.  We'll see if there is any air in it in the morning.  Probably going to install another new tube this weekend.

175 windy miles, from San Francisco to Santa Cruz and back.  Rode down with Domer and GeminiMotors (Danny n Mike) to meet up with some rally participants on the pier.  Eight riders in all met up in Santa Cruz, I soloed it back to SF so I can work in the morning.

Pescadero Beach on the way down Highway 1

Eight CB's in front of Riva's on the Santa Cruz Pier

Godzilla came to Santa Cruz with intentions of conquering...but took pity on the puny mortals following a sacrifice of seafood delights..

Oh!  And two miles from my house, I was unable to avoid a sand dune that had been blown onto the Great Highway, and had myself a TANK SLAPPER!  I shifted my weight to the pegs (which I learned to do through THIS forum  :) ), and rode it out.  I can't believe what it must have looked like to the dude who was tailgating me at the time.

AWESOME DAY

I went for a ride in the hills. I was flat tracking it around corners when the road turned to gravel, until I was stopped by show.

....I don't want to make his name public, he told me that he is very sorry, may be he overlooked the errors and he would like to give me my money back inc. shipping costs. Seems to me that he is a honest ebay seller who just did a little mistake, he has a 100% good feedback history.

Yes I can see it every day that the dollar is diving but that fact don't bring me a K0 speedo in good condition right now.

Picked up two pilot screw sets and installed them.  Then set the mixture.  Made a difference.

Installed new Earl's oil cooler with stainless lines and replace a leaking oil tank with a new freshly powdercoated one.

Went out to the garage to take my bike to work for the first time this year. Turned the petcock on, and noticed a HUGE fuel leak on the #3 carb....by the time I saw it, there was so much fuel I didn't know where it was coming from....But looked like it may have been the drain screw. Going to have to check that out when I get home tonight.

Sadly, no riding for me today... :(

More likely the float got stuck over the winter and the gas is coming from the overflow tube. Was it on the sidestand all winter? That contributes to floats sticking in a low "on" position. Put it on the centerstand and tap on that float bowl, or just above it on the carb body, with a small hammer or punch LIGHLTY. This will often unstick a float.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. I've ridden it a fair bit this spring, and haven't come across this problem. This was just the first time I was going to take it to work...

And yes, bike was on the side stand all winter...didn't know that contributed to slicking floats...!

My friend and I worked on my bike all day last Friday and Saturday. We got the rolling chassis completed, the motor built, and dropped it in the frame.

Now I feel like an idiot....Took a screwdriver, tapped the float bowl that was leaking, and, the leak is now gone. So that is what I did to my bike today!

I actually went out to reroute the wire harness and mount the new key switch I received in the mail. Man, I tell you, the more and more I dig into this thing makes me wonder if I may have gotten in over my head. Noticed a motor mount bolt is missing on the right side. I think it may also be the bolt that the brake switch may attach to. I just don't know, 'cause theres no switch, no bracket. I tried to remove the nut to ensure the ground wire was grounded and found the a course thread nut was forced onto the fine thread engine bolt. Damn, wtf, was the po thinking. The black wire finally broke from the starter solenoind, so now have to get one of those now.

And would someone please explain to me, the use of wintergreen to soften the carb rubbers? What and where do you get this stuff?

And can you please give me a detailed explaination on the steps that are needed/

Thanks.

Well, I checked my rear tire air situation this morning and found that it lost only 7 pounds last night.  Pumped up the tire and headed to work.  After morning runs it seemed to still be holding air fine.  Start out for afternoon runs and the tire is almost entirely flat.  Pumped it up and took my 12 power supply with me since I figured it would be low after my runs.  I was right, 10 pounds was all that was in there, so I pumped it up again and headed home.  Tomorrow I need to pick up a new tube and have all sorts of fun. ::)

Well after 17 days of Army reserve training in Tasmania I was desperate to go for a ride, and the motorcycle gods smiled on me with a beautiful warm sunny day. I rolled Goldie out of the garage and it fired right up straight away and settled into a nice smooth idle. I escaped the suburban traffic and did around 80 miles of pleasant country roads with lots of corners and very few cars. All in all, a great day, may there be many more of them! ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I don't know of a better stress reliever than jumping on your bike and cruising on some country roads and enjoy the scenery and fresh air. And the purr of that SOHC/4 just adds to the fun
Hope you have many more rides like that Terry.
