Looking good Georg! :D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Whats going on there Georg? Is that cracked filler, or cracked metal? Cheers, Terry.  :o

I'm guessing that the PO's weld didn't penetrate the tube very well Georg, and you ground most of it off, so you ended up with paper-thin metal. You probably should have re-welded it then ground it back smooth. Cheers, Terry. D;

...that is what I did, I re-weld it and ground it. Was the wrong picture in the last post. It was looking like that before.

Pumped up my rear tire and headed into Flint  to Rocky's for a new tube.  Bought tube, another tire iron, a tire valve repair tool and one of those angled feeler gauges to adjust my valves.  When I got back out to the bike the tire only had 10 pounds in it.  Hooked my compressor up to the lighter socket on my fairing and pumped the tire up.  Disconnected the compressor from the tire and heard the hissing of an air leak.  Laid my finger over the valve top and it stopped.  Grabbed the new valve repair tool and tightened up the core.  Hasn't lost air yet, we'll see how it is tomorrow. Didn't even try the electric starter since I'm sure the compressor ran the battery down.  Fired right up on the first kick like always.

If I don't need to use the new tube I'll take it with me on the rally when it gets to Michigan.  I'll probably buy a spare tube for the front as well.  No telling what might happen on a 2000 mile run. ;D

Speaking of runs, I just had to go out this afternoon.  Ended up in Millington before I turned around and headed back.  Only about 35-40 mile trip, but it was fun.  Lots of bikes out today.

Speaking of bikes, I'll have to see if they'll let me take pics of some of the bikes they've got in Rocky's.  They have some cool ones there.  Some really strange ones too, I'll have to post some of them in Hush's Weird and Wonderful thread. They have a CB500/4 mounted up on the outside of their building.

Installed my new vintage Beck Arnley power levers.  Well at least the brake lever is an orginal I think the clutch is a knock off, but who cares they work great.  Went for a quick ride today, and found #1 carb overflowing a little must be trash in the needle.

I got some brand new keys for both my bikes (K3 & K5) recently. ($5 each from an ebay seller.)
Today I noticed an interesting thing.
The keys for the two different numbered locks were cut exactly the same!
But they are different in that one key has grooves on one side and the other key has grooves on the other side so they're not interchangable.
Anyway, I thought that was an odd coincidence, even though Honda didn't make a huge number of different keys.

Installed the new front tire and tube, replaced a burned out front running light/turn signal bulb, put fresh brake fluid in the long empty master cylinder and bled out the line.

Still need to sort out the sticking floats if I want to join the ride when it hits Illinois in a couple weeks.

I'm working on final assembly tasks for my second vintage roadrace track bike.  This one is a '76 CB550K chassis, with slightly modified front end (CB750F fork lowers, '79 CBX caliper and 18" rim).  Today I'll machine a couple of motor mount spacers to replace orginals which got misplaced along the way.

Yesterday afternoon (after a full day at the job site, worked 60 hours this week.  Buko overtime ;D) filled the battery (it went dry a month ago :P) and put it on the Tender.
Hopefully I can get it to start today.  It hasen't been run in a couple of months.

thats interesting. I wonder how much of a coincidence it is. reminds me of my dad and grandads rangers. Their keys would unlock each others doors but not start each others trucks.
