Put on some fresh pod filters, a new clutch cable, and threw a couple coats of gloss black on my master cylinder.  I must say, new air filters work wonders, my clutch now feels like a hot knife through butter, and instead of staring at me and screaming for attention, my MC now stands proud boasting its newfound beauty.  Oh the little things....

Next on the To-Do:  put on new chain and sprockets, paint hubs and spokes to cover up their age (mostly just the spokes but I'm not tearing them down and I don't even want to think about taping off the hubs!), new front brake pads, oil change, and a fresh tire on the back.  Should be a good week!

Got my Led bulbs from SuperbrightLEDS (they actually arrived yesterday, but nobody bothered to check the mail! :o >:() 5 red 1157s and 4 amber 1156s, both 30 led bulbs, plus a 2 post electronic flasher.  Installed all the lights right away.  Put new gaskets in the lamps as well.  Everything worked out great except I had to remove the turn signal indicator from the dash.  With it in I had a functional left turn signal, but the right flashed all the turn signals like hazard lights.
So now I'll probably be going for miles on end down the road with out a clue that my turn signal is on. :o  Oh well, I was thinking about putting in left and right indicators anyway.

After working on the lights, I figured the battery was run down pretty good, so I took the long way in to work this afternoon to charge up the battery.  Stopped at the gas station to fill up.  This older guy, from the other side of the pump, comes around and points at my bike and says, "That's a '72"

"Yes it is", I said.

"That's a rare bike", he says, "That's a 500 Four! They only made them one year then went to the 550."

I agreed that they were rare, but corrected him on the years they were made.  He then went on to tell me about the '72 500 Four he used to have.  Said he did ice racing with it.  Put a sidecar on it and bored out the cylinders and put 750 pistons in it.  We had quite a nice chat about motorcycles.  Never did get his name tho.

Pulled the windshield now that it is warm and replaced the left front turn signal on the 650 and rode it to work .  Looked at the 550 with admiration.

Got soaked this morning.  Wasn't raining when I went in, but started to pour as I started my High School run.  No problems with the Pamco in the rain so far.  Not that I had much with the points in the rain either.

I put another coat of paint on the fork sliders on my CB650.  Since I was literally waiting for paint to dry I pulled the valve adjustment cover off of the #1 cylinder and took a quick look.  Everything looked nice and clean.

Oh and while I was all worked up on my birthday yesterday, painting and inspecting, I got up on top of the University of Cincinnati physical plant and installed a set of pod filters.

Working on the carbs and waiting on parts. If everything goes ok, I will start the engine this weekend.

They probably are ok on the bottom but with real hesitation in the middle.  Just a guess though. I never tried pods on a building.

I just put the pods on.  The guys from UC engineering are doing the final tuning.

Im glad that I'm not the only one who looked and saw a set of pod filters.

Got home yesterday, from my afternoon runs, about 5:30.  Around 12:30 in the middle of the night, my son comes in and wakes me up, tells me the lights are on on the bike.  I hand him the keys and ask him to shut them off. I remember talking to my father-in-law about the lights and we must have left the key switch in the park position.  At 4:30 in the morning I get out there and prayed that I could get it started.  The lights were left on for 7 hours.  I turned the ignition on and the oil and neutral lights come on ok.  I didn't even try to use the starter.  She fired right up!  If I still had incandescent lights on the bike, 5 1157s, the battery would have been dead.  Still got damp on the way in tho.

Rode to work, it is a nice day!

I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I am leaving in 40 minutes.  I gotta get out of that and the bike is prolly too low to go over the curb.

That wing wasn't there when I slipped in there.  I wonder how he got that in there.  What is funny is that 900lb bike blew over from the wind a couple months ago.  It was on the sidestand.

After watching the Dallas Mavs win the Western Conference Finals (and drinking heavily for the entire game), a friend and I decided to pull the alternator cover off to ascertain the condition of the alternator.  In our inebriated condition we managed to strip 3 of the 4 screws in the process of getting cover off.  Good news is alternator seems in great shape and I have replacement allen screws for the entire engine.

Machined some 530 sunstar sprockets down to 520 width so I can run an O-ring chain on the 550 without clearance issues

I put the tapered steering stem bearings in my CB650 and painted some small parts.  The clutch cover gasket for my CB360 finally showed up.  I also paired off about 40 species of animals to load onto the ark, only about a million pairs to go  I can't belive its STILL raining in Cincinnati.

It's sunny here in Chicago today, but it was 47 degrees when I headed out to walk to the train at 8:30. Where's that damn global warming they promised me if I kept driving my gas sucking V8?
