(Late last night) Did some test/tune on the 650, trying to get the new suspension dialed in.  While I was out riding I got the spookiest sensation like the rear tire "wasn't there."  Almost a floating sensation.  Dropped the preload on the rear shocks and that helped some.  Brought it home and checked the tire pressure.  WAY too high ~ 38 pounds instead of 28.  Dropped both the front and rear tire down to spec.  Went for another run and was substantially improved.  The bike felt like it was "planted on the road" rather than "riidng above it".

Also pulled my plugs after the ride.  Pic below, plugs ordered 1-4, left to right.  #1 - a lot of carbon, #2,3 very lean.  #4 looks pretty good - brown.  I rebuilt the carbs with keyster kits, and since then it's never been quite right no matter what tweaking I do to the pilots.  I'm going to put the original mains back in, see what happens.

If I were you...I'd worry more about the needle jets and jet needles. If they aren't OEM...you will usually be disapointed by the new ones supplied with the kit.

Tore the clutch cover off because the plates were stuck.  Got everything apart, cleaned and ready to put back together then found out that there are no clutch cover gaskets available in Canada!  the kid behind the counter informed me, as if i had been living in a cave for the last few months, that there was an earthquake in japan and i could expect the gasket the 22 of August.
So off to the internet and ordered one but more complications, the Post Office is on strike in Canada.  Second best option is to send the gasket to Eureka, Montana and drive down and pick it up.  Just got back!

Thanks for the tip.  When I did the rebuild, I only replaced the pilots and the mains, along with a bunch of missing orings.  While the kits came with new needles, they didn't seem to be replaceable unless I pulled the completely rack apart, so I left the originals.

So anyway, I figured I'd start trying to solve this by putting the original mains back in first, since I never saw the plugs like that when they were installed.  I'd put the old pilots back in too, but two of them were bent by the PO....

Fought with putting a Motion Pro clutch cable on the bike and figured out that it just isn't made right.

I had the same issue with a MP clutch cable installed by the PO. It didn't fit right where it goes into the case.

I ordered an NOS cable from eBay.  You can see in the pics that the MP cables are "short" on cable and "long" on jacket.

Agreed. I have made many of my own gaskets, especially clutch cover. You can get the gasket material at any auto parts store, a few minutes with a pencil and a razor blade and you have a gasket.

Oil & filter change on the 750.
Always a good feeling knowing the guts got fresh blood.  :)

And tried to re-adjust the clutch so the friction zone isn't so small.
I don't think it made much difference but I have yet to run it on the road today..
Oh hey look the wife just came home ... off to test ... on the way to work. :-)

I'm not real qualified to give carb advice on the 650's. I know the old 750K's real good though.

Engine is completely disassemble. Ready for inspection for the 4th of July weekend. Thank God I did that because I found one of the metal o'rings that holds the pistons inside the oil pump. Wish me luck...

Replaced the front brake pads.  Cleaned all the parts up real nice and bled the system.  The old ones had a good bit of pad left but they were glazed really bad and they were squeaking like a b#**h.

I was on a ride and apparently the oil ran out because the rpms and speed went down then the bike died. I pulled over the oil light was on so I checked the oil it was empty and smoking!

I managed to flag down a fellow motorcyclist on a 1959 enfield with a sidecar and he ran to his house and got me oil we filled it up it started so I headed home then it died about 3 miles down the road same thing, wouldnt start so I pushed it home

cylinders 1 and 2 were cold so I am pretty bummed!

I'm not really sure how to fix it at this point maybe the pistons are scored?
