Got the chrome back for the K4 yesterday and started at the back. Will work my way forward to the steering head.
Wow Johnie that is awesome looking. Where did you send it for chrome plating? Did you ship it or take it there? Looking for a good place some where here in Wisconsin if I can when I get to that point..

.: Scott :.

Scott...I have a chromer in NE WI that I have used for three 750's now. Guy is fussy and friendly. He is 30 minutes from my house on the north side of Lake Winnebago.

Took the Goldwing and 750's outside to show them that there is a sun out there. The wife said it may be time to insure the Goldwing! Suuny/cloudy and around 10C.
Set the tappet clearance on the project motor, installed the oil pump and oil pan. As soon as the valve cover comes back from the polishers it can go in the frame. need some Honda 6 mm flat washers in silver colour.

I took advantage of the fact that we were finally able to rearrange the bikes in the garage and allow my 650 out to play.  Earlier on she got parked in by first one 350 then the other.

We went for a little putt around town.  I forgot how hard it can be sometimes to stay at the speed limit on that bike.  It's easy in the car, but just a little bit o' throttle and I'm already doing 50 in a 40. :o I was good, though. sorta.
Can't wait to ride to/from school again.  that holiday enforced break was killing me.

Set the valves  and pulled the air box to install my new uni air filter. Was worried about the cam tensioner so i pulled it off and it wasnt real dirty but it was stuck I think. Came off easy enough. Cleaned well greased and locked it. Reinstalled it and zzzziiip it went at 15 deg yada.. Sounded much better even with the airbox off. Synced the carbs before I pulled the tensioner and air box. Guess ill be doing it all again real soon but thats ok. Havent got the bike legal yet anyway.  This has been my easiest bike to get roadworthy yet. I still plan to do the 530 chain conversion but the current one is starting to come back to an operable life. I did a bunch of other stuff too. But I cant tell you folks in case you wind up buying it someday. ;D

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Thanks to Johnie's idea of using a black Sharpie, my dyno covers look like they are stock again. I've been trying to figure how to do this for a long time. I'll do a second coat later today. It may seem like a small thing but it's one of those finishing touches that ices the cake. Thanks Johnie!
Cliff.

I do this to the speaker grills on my Yammi.  I use the Magnum 44 marker because it is so big.  They are close to $90 a piece so about every 6 months I touch them up.  They were rusting so I wire wheeled them and markered them up.

Did not think to use them on the dyno cover.  Prolly 'cause I figured the heat would mess it up perty quick.

Other than that, I have not seen them today, shoot, I did not see them yesterday either.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Took it for a brisk 14 mile ride, first one in months...... Still 38 degrees here, not bad... until you account for the fog/mist and windchill. It's supposed to hit 50 tomorrow, time for another ride.

I just took the left over screw (cir. in red) last pic and it brought the threads in the head with it. :(
cam is getting ready to come out after 9 tonight.
Is this a stock cam?
RC327 H39 on it.
Look's like I have stainless retainers.

Paul

Looks like an RC 327 cam Paul, and they'd be aluminum retainers and probably H/D springs too, I'd reckon? Looks like you've done well mate, good job! ;D

I've been away all week working on an Airforce base 150 miles from home, living in a Motel, eating and drinking too much, but the company is paying for it, so who am I to complain? ;D

I got home yesterday and it was 90 (+) degrees, but I went straight out to the garage and re-assembled my BMW seat/tail unit, and fitted some new hand grips and touched up the paint on a couple of items just to tidy it up, as I'm putting it on EBay today. Selling it sucks, but I've got 9 bikes in my garage, and I need to "thin the herd", and reduce my expenditure on registration and insurance, maintenance, etc.

My EBay gasket set arrived while I was away, so today I'm gonna reassemble the F2 engine after cleaning off the baked on base gasket remains, what a pain that's gonna be! Oh well, it's gotta be done I guess. I'm taking a four day "long weekend" so tomorrow I'm off to Phillip Island for the annual "Phillip Island Classic" motorcycle races, they race bikes built from the early 1900's right through to the "post Classic" era, which of course includes the mighty CB750! Mick will be there racing his CB750 sidecar outfit, and it'll be good to catch up with him for a chat. I haven't decided which bike I'll ride yet, but the Triumph has a full tank of gas, so it's leading the pack for selection, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

I thought of it fondly and took a nap.  Later I might be polishing the left control pod... the right was a bear. :P
