Purchased a 'new to me' 1981 CB650c for $275 a couple weeks ago.  Did full tune, valves, cam chain, etc.

Also did head bearings, which was a new project for me.  Hadn't done that before.  PO mentioned that the steering was loose.  YUP!  After tearing into it, I found that one of the ball bearings was missing on the top row.  Re-greased,k re-assembled and all is good.

Got about 200 miles on it so far.  Runs nice.
Come on!  We're burning daylight!

I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Finally got the broken snap ring out of the K8 master cyl..... one of the 'eyes' had broken off so a snap ring pliers were of no help in getting it out. Installed the new Honda #45530-404-315 mas.cyl. rebuild kit ( fits '77 and '78 ) and bled the brake........ just to find-out the caliper piston is seized  >:(
Everything on this bike has been effected by weather and being left outside for years........ however I'll keep going and someday soon have a roadrunner.

Yesterday, took the GL1000 steel clutch plate I installed in 3 clutches to help cure the clutch rattle. I installed these after reading an article about it in the "Wrench" bulletin. It turns out this is the fix for the F models of CB750's. I think it was Hondaman that pointed this out, thanks Hondaman.
Any F owners need a GL1000 stell clutch plate?
Cliff.

Blew the 550 motor. Dont know for sure what let go until I open it up but something went boom. Cam chain perhaps.

Also found a early KO 750 frame and motor today. Its #8600 which is painfully close to the magic 7000 number.

   This pretty much sums it up.   76' CB592 cafe. 69 750 project, 03 CBR954, 75 750 super sport.

Changed the oil and installed a headlight assembly on the 78 for the first time in about 33 years... upside down... but still made for a fun test ride!  Later flipped it back over so my low beam is no longer my high.  All the connections are good in the headlight bucket but my winkers are slow.  One solenoid with the positive wire from the battery was very hot and looks fairly dirty.  I think i need to clean it up and hopefully it will fix the limp winkers... if Not I will continue to investigate.  with this tropical storm coming up the east it is giving me plenty of time before decent riding weather returns!

Aside from the electrical situation... the bike runs incredibly well with no hesitation or sputtering at any throttle position/RPM.

sanded/painted the instrument light cluster (3 coats), checked my new lowering blocks, installed my new starter cover, checked the swingarm bushings (they're great -- first time on a refrub all i need to do is disass end regrease!  ;D)

got my new head bearings in.  triples were painted yesterday (3 coats) and are still suspended/drying over the hot water heater.

Spent the last few days finishing up a couple of old projects that had been lingering in the back of the shop for well over a year and a half. 74 and 75 CB750K's. Woke them up and rode them for the first time since buying them.Nice clean carbs, brakes etc. They run nice. Sold a 75 CB750F recently and think I will sell these also to somebody who can keep going on them. For some reason my wife thinks 18 750's is to many + the other stuff . Really need to thin out the herd and just keep the 100% stockers and let the young guys have some projects :)   Eric

Got her running great the past couple days. Did a decent ignition tune up, put on clubmans, new old front fender, cleaned carbs, added rear turn signals and adjusted clutch and throttle controls. Got a couple more things to do: new reverse cone muffler install and find out why front disks are binding a little at slow/walking speeds.
