Replaced the broken and aftermarket oil pressure gauge with a brand new oil pressure sending unit (for a 1980 Accord). Thankfully the light and sensor work :)

Over the last 2 days I did a 400 mile round trip to attend a Christmas BBQ. I had a great ride, but it was around 90 deg F on the return ride and my face feels a little "tight" this morning. I need to do something with the seat, you'd think a 2007 Triumph Rocket III would be comfortable on a long ride than a 1971 CB750, but at the moment, you'd be wrong! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Ni
Went over to the dark side and purchased a vintage sidecar to race next season.  It's a single cam, but of the Yamaha XS persuasion.  There's a dustbin fairing for the front, and a lot of prep work to get it up to my standards. :)

Nice score Tin!  Leading link front suspension, car tire, Left side mount.  Do you have a monkey already?
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Thanks Old School, the tire(s) f/r are Dunlop sidecar specific 16"ers.  The chair wheel is a 10" Mini that I'll fit with a Dunlop Mini vintage racing.  No monkey yet, but have already had some interest expressed.  Personal preference would be for someone with experience, and crazy enough to ride with a rookie. ;) :)

Tintop - that sidecar set up has got an interesting front - has a swing arm been used?

Today I made my oil tank disappear.

Now you see it -

- now you don't.

Hi Cliff, thats what they call a leading link front end, keep your eyes out and you will see one on the road on a sidecar, they are not that common on the road but are definitely out there....

Looking good. Do you have same bag on the other side too?   I know that your seat holds in place with two bolts. Do you have any accesible area under it. I mean do you take the seat off on regular bases to get to battery, tools or such?

Same bag on the left - but you can actually use it.

Seat held on with two wing nuts so you can take it off without tools to get to all the electrics which are fitted in to a tray under the seat.

Hey maduncle, good eye.  It's a cut down XS650 swingarm.  If you look closely there are lock tabs on the 'washers'.  They are different lengths.  By flipping them you can change the trail.  The guy who built the chassis also has another set available with different length tabs, so you can in effect have 4 different trail settings to fine tune the front end.  Once in place they lock the axle so there is no chance of it moving. 8)

Tried to free some seized pistons.  (I think it's running a little rich  :))

Finally was able to get the fourth piston out of the cylinder, Hooray! After splitting the case, I used a torch, heated it in the oven (wife was not happy), and still couldn't knock it out.  Ended up going to a machine shop and they used a 40 ton press.  Now, what to do next ...

Rode into town to visit a bike shop that ended up being closed for Christmas, ride back home via some freeway so I could wind it right out.

Man, this bike can do zero to 100km/h by about next Tuesday!

I need to get onto those carbs...

i cleaned up a filthy head and barrel,i just blended where the seat is inserted in the exhaust ports, someones already scooped out the bowl area a little.

i also de burred the inlet manifolds and matched them to the head.

this 550 barrel has been overbored to 61 mm,i was told by the old bloke i got the motor from it only needs rings, ive had a lot of stuff from this guy over the last couple of years and he has tools lying in dirt and open cases in the weather etc,it had been assembled less the rings,i found a few bits in the bottom end,and just discovered this after the clean up,someone has busted the rings on install and not noticed, there is even a bit of ring embedded in the gasket surface here, the bores look good but i havent miked them up yet.
