Hey Johnie. I noticed aways back you were putting white in the letters of your tank badges. What type-brand of paint did you select.??   I did some with Testors model paint but found it pretty thin and translucent. Had to lay in around 3 coats. Little bottle got better as the fumes worked out and thickened a bit though.

Spanner...I also went to the local hobby house. The guy thought I should try an enamel white which I thought looked pretty crappy after 3 coats. So I removed that and now used Model Master Acryl which flows much better and gives a nice even look to the paint. It is easier to work with too. Cleans up with water vs the thinner needed for the enamel. I have done 3 coats but will do 1 more. It goes on thin, but I think that is why I get a nice even look.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with water cooled brakes mate, and rusty brake drums produce a "pitted" friction surface, thus increasing the surface area and creating more friction = better stopping, perfect! I'm off to drill some holes!;D
what if I drilled the drum? :o

Well, another year has come and the show is over now. Don't think there were as many people this year as last. Probably due to the economy. Still, had a good time and got some good deals on some things I needed. This year I was part of the VJMC display and we had some great bikes there.

And there were some cool deals even if they were a little rough.

today I went to the local auto mechanic...knowing they work on a lot of bikes.  the reason I went is because I am mid-project on my '71 cb750...which is to become a cafe of sorts.  I've stripped it down to the frame and am at the point where I need to mount the battery and electrical components at the tail section.

So i took the raw frame to the shop to talk to the guys there.  i was met by there resident 'bike guy'...  Now I am not the kind of guy to attach any stereotypes based on one's geographic origins...but this guy pulled some hardcore "Euros are better than Americans" bull#$%* on me.

I noticed that every bike in the shop was a Ducati or BMW...  And when the guy caught wind of what I was doing he says with a thick Italian accent.  "I don't understand you Americans with your 'bike building'.  I am Italian and we are very precise.  We do not just...cut here...and weld there."  Bla bla bla...I won't bore you with the rest.

Long story short, I told him to piss off and took my business elsewhere...

Outside of that I separated all the parts that are getting polished...and all that are headed off to the powdercoater.  Its getting close!!

CB650 Terry and I moved the bike around to the garage. Cleaned up a bit and had a good afternoon of kinda chilly weather.

Well I can't see why not mate, don't go overboard and "swiss cheese" it considering that you'll be drilling thru your hub, and you'll probably need a fancy right angle drill to achieve the aim, (unless you're gonna pull your wheel apart?) but I'm sure it's do-able, and I'm interested in the results! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

The F2 that I restored 5 years ago is all back together after it's second engine tear down, it's now got an entire K6 top end installed, but with the F2 cam and carbs. It starts, it runs, it needs some minor adjustments, but all in all, I'm a happy boy. I fitted the seat, airbox, sidecovers and chain, and rode it around my backyard tonight after work, and tomorrow I'll take it for a longer "shakedown" ride, and all going well, I'll post some pics when I get back. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I'll try my hand at it on a spare hub I have hanging up. I was thinking 21-36  0.25inch holes in a swept pattern between the cooling fins.

K4 - dismantled the gauges today and got the cases ready for paint. Sure did work nice using the paint can opener to pry those rings off as posted earlier by another member. The lenses cleaned up nicely and are prestine using a special plastic polish. The gauge faces have not seen much sun and cleaned up great.

Painted the oil pressure gauge housing black for the K0 and put the split K7 engine back together. Temporairly lost the new O rings for the oil pump and called it a day.

I know what you mean Terry. But I am about 75% done now and it just does not pay to start it now. I should have started the K4 resto thread when I started this project in November. I do have a nice picture book though... ;D I have one of those for my KO & K1 too.

every single person that has come into my room since the wife brought my laptop to me has gotten an earful about project fuzzycycle, seen the pics and heard all about my second family (you ladies and gents here) 2 things that i'll talk and talk about till you run away in self defense are my kitties and fuzzycyle. they even know why it was called fuzzycycle and why the name fuzzybutt. though the night nurse found that out the hard way when she caught me heading into my bathroom. fortunately for any potential roommate i'm in a single room because then theyd be a captive audience. between my pain meds and the prednisone i talk like i've drank 2 pots of Tim Hortons coffee  ;D almost too bad i'm coming home tomorrow, i like the bed with the mattress that inflates and deflates whenever you move around. i wish i could afford a hospital bed here at home, i'd be happy as hell about that.

you know, I actually somehow read that line first, then went back and reread your whole post that way. :D :D :D

Too bad you're not at my hospital, I'd end up talking your ear off about Delilah and Lola, and we'd blow through my whole shift havin' fun!

Terry,

Can't believe you'd get rid of the best bike you have. Hell, I'd take that any day over that stump pulling Triumph with the Ford Pinto engine you have  ;)

What exhaust is that?

I spent a number of hours in the garage remembering how much I hate old aluminum and stripped threads.  yay!

On the plus side, Lola now has her newly rewired control pods on, new clutch and throttle cable, refurb'd brake cable...
