Got HM's book last night.  It was delivered at 7:40pm, it was dark outside.  I had no idea they ran that late when it was not Christmas.

NEway, glanced through the book a while.  Glad I never bought a Clymer or Haynes!!!!!!!   Nice book!!!!!

Got mine a few weeks ago with that major discount (33%!!)  and I'm super impressed with it.  It is well worth the full price with all the color pictures, and the wealth of knowledge inside.

Well done HondaMan!

Today I finally rode my 500 a bit...felt great!
What is this book for and have a link?

Charged the battery and rode it to work. Of course the afternoon meeting over on the East coast meant I had to ride to the shop in Orlando, then head over to the coast about noon, then back to the house after the meeting covered about 150 miles. Low 80's, cool breeze over along the coast, and on the clock for about half the ride (and get to turn in the fuel receipt).

Life is good.  8)

Got my tank back from the repair/paint shop and put it back on! One of my bikes blew over in some crazy wind on my Honda and did this.

A fellow forum member hooked me up with a relative of his and got the dent removed and repainted.

I couldn't be happier. Great work at a great price and it only took about 2 days!

'Twas a beautiful day yesterday, and to celebrate the fact that I've got 4 days off work, I decided that it was time to experiment with my POSA Fuel carb that I bought on EBay a couple of months back.

The carb came off a 750 engined chopper that had been sitting for a few years, and was missing the special throttle cable, so I made my own, by cannibalising a couple of stock "pull" cables so that I could have a neat setup with plenty of adjustability.

Installation was a piece of cake, and the whole setup was ready to go in around 30 minutes.

I hit the button, and it roared into life. "Roared" is the best way to describe the event, as I discovered that my beautiful throttle cable that took me hours to make was about 2 inches too short and was at maximum stretch once the tank was installed, so the slide was about 3/4 open when I hit the button. My poor old engine went from sitting around for the last week or so dormant, to suddenly revving at around 8000RPM! Bugger!

I re-routed the cable a couple of times, but it really needs a longer cable, so after mucking about with it for another hour or so and flattening the battery in the process, I gave up for the evening. I also managed to scare my poor 17 year old Kelpie #$%*tless when it backfired so loud that my ears rang for a few minutes afterwards (I'd inadvertantly cranked it with the fuel on and the ignition off, then turned the ignition on, and "BANG!" Fark!

I think it was Scottly who decribed the POSA carb as a "Bolt on gas leak" and he's absolutely correct. If you leave the gas on and open the throttle with the engine off, gas will cascade out of the venturi all over your engine. It's interesting that most of the POSA tuning threads that I read last night (after I installed it, of course) said to have a fire extinguisher nearby, I don't remember ever seeing this advice in my Honda manual...........

Anyway, I'm faced with either spending another day making a new cable and playing with jetting, while my dog and cats (and wife) freak out at the noises and explosive fumes emanating from my garage, or I just re-install my carbs, which were working great before this whole adventure started, and taking GZ for a ride to the pub. I think you can all guess what I'm gonna do, all this thinking is making me thirsty............. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

I went to visit and check out EKPent's bikes. He's got quite a collection! It was cool seeing the differences as the CB750's progressed through the years.

I needed some carb clamps, and Eric was kind enough to let me pick through what he had. What a selection.

Installed my carbs and airbox. Temperature a toasty 5c/41f.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

OCICBW, but.  Its a specialized piece. You've got to buy quantity of hard chromed tube steel. Cut it, thread it, drill as needed. Would CycleX gear up to supply just that piece? Or would they offer to buy quantity from a place like Frank's, get a break on the price and resell it for the spread?

Another example: I even tried to buy a rim and spokes from some place other than Buchanans one time. I found a place in NJ, East Coast Wheels (since out of business). They had a slightly better price than Buckys on the rim and spokes. So I ordered it. When I got it, the box had a shipping label from Bucky's and the instructions were printed on Bucky's letterhead! Didn't even try to hide the relationship.

Honda and Harley don't make their own oil. When I was in Honda Parts, the winl/wink from the Honda rep was it was Quaker State, relabelled and jacked the price.

Like that.  OCICBW in this case, but that's how its often done.
