Re-torqued the head, adjusted valves, adjusted points/timing.  I just went through my first tank of gas since the rebuild and it seemed about time.
Also checked all over for leaks.  Thought I might have one from the plug near the sprocket, but it turned out to be oil off the chain accumulating behind the cover.
Oh yea...rode it!  It was a relatively warm evening and I was comfortable in a sweatshirt.  I love riding in the cool of the night.

removed swingarm...what a B****!

removed center stand....that took some pounding to get off too!

pulled the motor (finally)...took awhile cause i had to fight with my oil filter for a few days.  padded the floor and laid the bike over on its right side and lifted the frame off...worked like a charm.

Exhaust system was rusted through...so i salvaged what was left (pretty much the headers + 4'') cut it, then hit it with a wire wheel...cleaned it right up, then painted them gloss black with high temp header paint (i know they'll discolor...but i just like gloss better).  they look great...perfect for my cafe brat look.

Took a dremel to the front fender, shortened the front overhang a lot...left the rear length...ditched the nanny bar.

Fun times :)

Yeah mate, I agree, it's a prrick of a job! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Hey bandit, got any pictures?

I drilled the brake rotor and made another speedo boss for the dual brake setup. Just for the joy of lathe work - I love aluminum, makes me feel like I am real machinist:)

Spent 5 hours getting out 5 of the six screws from the cylinder head cover on my '77 cb550. The sixth wouldn't budge. As you might have guessed based on how long it took, I used every known technique to get the others out but nothing worked on number 6. It will be drilled tomorrow. Not quite the start to my project I was hoping for...

I've been ready to start checking off my list of "winter to do's" for the bikes,
but it seems like we're stuck in December with the weather here in Michigan.
What? February already? It's almost riding season again!

Installed new swing arm bushings on my cb750f.  It went really well, probably because the original bushings were not worn out.  Made me wonder why I was doing this, but I guess it gives me some peace of mind.  Got the bushings from
