Pulled the clutch cover off and stopped at that crazy nut.  I may work at that tomorrow.  I do not have the tool to get it off.  Wonder if I can get it out with a hammer and driver.  I do not know if I want to grind down one of my sockets to fit it.

Figured I would get that apart and see if the lock is before or after the clutch.  Tugged on the alternator nut tonight, it is not budging.

Unless someone around McKinney has one of those nuts I can borrow to get it off.  I could stand a ride tomorrow.

Have you tried putting it in gear and rocking the back wheel Rick? That's what Steve K0 did with his bike (with penetrating fluid in the cylinders) and the slack in the chain helped to "shock" the stuck pistons unstuck. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Hey Terry, I would if I could.  This bike did not come with a rear sprocket or chain.  I do have the 50/50 Acetone/ATF mix in the cylinders though.  I did get the basket out today, trans turns.

I'll need to buy those anyway so I might git ta orderin'.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Fair enough mate, it's a pity we live so far apart, I've got a garage full of CB750 crap! Cheers, Terry. ;D

That you do Terry!

Today I recovered from going to Australia's biggest car boot/flea market sale in Ballarat, where you walk 25km to view over 2000 stalls of crap (almost as much as Terry's garage).

If I were rich I would have bought a 1973 CB550 four, a CB450K1, a nice CB360 and a very nice mid 70's CB1100 Goldwing (the Goldy was $5,500 and running rather well). Would have got the lot for ten grand, and then put them all away somewhere nice and dry.

I wish!

Instead I bought stuff for the shop.

Today I fitted the plate and registration label to the VFR750, replaced a few rusty bolts with stainless hex insert ones, pulled the screen off, polished it and put it back on and then gave the bike a wash.

Put on new switches and fixed some incorrect wiring.
I'm not quite done, but the switches look good, though I don't really care for the purple kill switch.

Also tried to fix my clutch switch.  Got it working fine on the bench, but was inconsistent on the bike.  I think I'll just short the wires for now.

Ha ha, from what I heard from my spies Cliff, Ballarat was a hot farking waste of time, and I've got way better bike stuff in my garage than there was at the whole swap meet? That's why I don't bother going anymore, there's nothing worth walking  for 15 miles around dusty paddocks in 100 deg F temps. I went last year and took a heap of 750 speedo's and tachs (my cousin has a stall) and probably had 2 people look, while I did an impression of a fried egg. I'd rather buy it on EBay from the US and pay the ridiculous shipping back to Oz........... ;D

Changed the oil, primary oil, tranmission oil, and fork oil in the Harley, adjusted the clutch too.

Again, am going for another 100 mile trip on the 750 2day. Gonna try to get it done b4 the race.

Yesterday, kept hearing a squeal coming from the rear. Got it home and noticed the chain bone dry.
Sprayed it with chain lube, seems to spin a little better.
If it ain't raining, I'm riding.....~~{iii}?~~prost

If it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, it's because I cut and pasted from someone else.

Spent the day cleaning carbs and tuning.  Trying to get the jetting right after moving from CO to AZ.  Had 70 mains and 35 slowjets... Found some 75 and 40 in the cb400f carbs... Man those were gummy!  Gonna go test ride now, gotta get it going for the rally!

not really to my bike but for my bike: I lost a bid for a tank for my 74 750 at the last freakin minute to some chode who used autobid during the last 15 minutes  >:(  It was my first time actually bidding on something from ebay so I didn't know that even existed.

I got my 550 back together yesterday and fired it up, it sounded really good just need some final adjustments and tuning to wrap it up. I re-ringed it, installed a new primary chain and a cam from a 650. I of course had to split the case to replace the primary chain and this was my first time I've ever split the case of a motorcycle engine so I was a bit apprehensive. I took a bunch of pics to help prevent me from screwing up putting it back together but it turned out to not be that big of a deal. Only problem is that it's still a bit too chilly to take it for a test ride but I might do it anyhow, I'll just freeze my tail off doing it. :)

Thanks Steve, I plan on being there.  I'm buried at work and we are going to Cali on vacation in March for a week and I'm training and racing a bunch right now so my time to work on the bike is limited. As for BOTM that's a bit of a stretch...this summer I'm tearing it down and having the frame powdercoated in gold and adding some new shocks maybe then ;)

Thanks I really appreciate that..for me though the silver frame just doesn't work with the black and gold.  I had actually thought about doing the bike with a white tank silver "knee dents" and red stripes and keeping the frame silver but it was always going to be my second choice.  The summers here are brutally hot so I won't be riding much if at all. I'll do the frame, replace the shocks with some black ones and do some paint work to the motor as well.
