Nothin'........... did work on a bike tho' !.......... investigated the horrible rattling in  Sweetie's CB650 SC top-end. Have been reluctant to take the rocker cover off ( can take the rocker, head, cyls off with motor in frame  :) :) ) as I don't know sh1t about that  DOHC motor  :( Well, loosened-up the exhaust cam and removed the hydraulic tappets and found one to be shot. Let me tell you that little oil-filled tappet is some piece of engineering as to how it works..... that bike maintains 'zero' valve lash up to 8,000 rpm, no wonder that motor is so dang quiet, wow! Hope David Silver still has one or two as no-one else in the world seems to have any ( obsolete from Honda  :( ).

Installed Euro bars on my 350:

That's a lovely 350F you've got there mate, I've gotta admit that I have a soft spot for the 350F, I never much liked the 400F (too "slabby" for me) but the 350F was a cute little bike, and fun to ride. Here's a pic of the one I restored in 1996 from a total wreck. At 6 foot 4 inches tall and 250 pounds (then...........) I was a little bit too big for it, so I traded it for a shiny new metal lathe, but it was my first ground up resto, and I loved it.

It now resides in the lounge room of the owner of a local Mercedes Benz dealership, it seems that when he was a young apprentice mechanic in Germany he had one just like it. He was lucky that he got to it before Honda MPE here in Melbourne, they were looking to buy it to send back to Japan for their museum, apparently. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Got title registration and a plate for the 550.
Gave it one more test ride before I break it down, clean it up, and dial it in.

Since it's cold and wintery here in NZ now, the SOHC has been up on blocks for more future-proofing. Finished getting the front mudguard rechromed a while back and got that refitted. Pulled the wheel apart and had that rechromed and picked it up this Monday. Already had a new set of Dave Silver spokes ready to go. I was really happy with the result on the rim - rust is 95% gone or negated...as can be seen the pic. I painted the rim with some toxic rust neutralising paint - but is is clear so doesn't show in the pic. Had some fun with the relacing. Did it about 6 times before I got it right...and had some help from a friendly cycle mate who had respoked upteem push bike wheels. I seemed to have it right pretty much from go,..but thought I didn't as the spokes were not pulling the nipples in taught (nearly said HARD)...when I turned the hub to see how the inners mated up. He slapped me and told me to shutup and finish the job..sure enough once the outers and inners were all on, the nipples positioned themselves AOK. Just spent another hour or so with the wheel on a makeshift jig to do truing. Seems to be within 1mm. I literally started to go cross-eyed from staring intensely at the rim gap..so have given it a rest. For a 37 year old rim - I figure that's good to go.- anyway. I'll redo it mounted on the bike axle to be sure.
The rechrome of the axle cost NZ$150 and he new spokes NZ$70'ish.

I finally got around to dealing with my scraped up alt cover (had a perfect one sitting on a parts motor).  Took the cover off the other engine, removed the guts and cleaned it up.  I'm hoping to get it on sometime this week.  Also I finally got Fabricator back on the road, he finally got his rear tire mounted up and I reinstalled it for him.

Got up at 4:45am. Took apart the starter solnoid, cleaned it.
Low and behold it works! Now the new headlight/starter switch I installed near my bars is fully functional.
Got back inside before 6am, wife and kid still asleep.

FINALLY got the frame off to my powdercoater, great guy and to anyone here in Denver (or willing to send it) i highly recommend him, Pristine Powdercoating. I thought I'd need the fame blasted with all the work I did but he said he could work the new coating over the old and make it look just as good. I was very impressed last time with his work so I'm willing to trust him on this. He also had a bin of parts some guy brought him over a year ago and never picked up. A battery box, top tree, back hub & brake, front hub, as well as a few little parts. I told him I'd take them off his hands for what he has in them, only downside, whoever had this done had him do them in a wrinkle finish. ::)

Was making good progress with a carb sync today when I broke one of the brass adapters.....  >:( >:( >:( :P
Now I've got to wait for another set to arrive. Oh well, there's other things to work on.

Decided to lash the valves & adjust the cam chain tension.  Tension went fine, valves went fine until I went to take #3 intake off.  Damn adjuster cover broke on me (threads came off).  I have around 10 spares, but of course they are at my parent's place instead of mine :(

Anyone know if you can jbweld one back together?

Finally got rid of the dwindling remains of that 36 year old cork points cover gasket and sealed it up with some cool blue gasket goo. Also tidied up the electrical under the tank a little.

Riding more than 50 miles every day rain or shine! :-D

What did you use? I replaced the gasket with an OEM cork gasket - which is already deteriorating after a few months from the heat.

Probably dirty fuse contacts, clean and polish the clip holders and check the back of the fuse box.  What happened to you also happened to me and the remedy is usually simple...Larry

Pulled the 360 out of the storage space last night.  Rode it up to my favorite watering hole and had 3 beers and some sushi from next door.  Watched my Reds beat up on the Orioles, 10-5.  Rode the 4 blocks home and parked it by the curb, woke up to a down pour.  (%^&*!!!)   It stopped raining around 10:00 and I rode her here to the coffee place.

Got a pack of replacement allen bolts for all of the engine case bolts, first one I go to unscrew (points cover) and the head is popped off of the bolt. Not a good start, time to search the site for bolt removal techniques.
