After cleaning the carbs yesterday, I put them back on and fed them some fuel to test.  Bike started up and ran fine.  Next I'll synchronize them.  Hopefully my tank will be back from the painter next week so I can get out and ride.....she hasn't been on the road since May due to being "tankless".   :(

Yesterday actually........... took off my new to me gas tank.....drained it and tried to get petcock to stop leaking. Not a fast leak and not hitting the ground but putting out fumes in the garage (where the water heater lives..........not a good combo!!). Couldn't stop it with parts from 2 petcocks so ordered new seals & washers from Service Honda. Film at 11!! (probably a few days when the parts get here. This is a right side mount from a 74' that I have never dealt with before. I also have a coupla newer (75') petcocks that mount on the left side but never had any issues with those.

Went over to my buddie's with a fully charged battery after we had sorted out his carbs and electrical, new intake rubber, new pods (blech, not my decision) fired the thing up and after years of sitting and it's alive and running great.

Took it for a ride around the block and figured out that there was no rear brake (just needed rod adjustment).

Other than that everything is good. Such a good feeling to get a non-op bike working after so much time even if it isn't mine.

got a 76cb750k heap last month, and slowly progressing to the "test" phase.  my plan is to start the bike and get it running sufficiently to check the transmission.  don't care if the timing or brakes or lights are fubar, i can fix that stuff, but if the tranny is toast it's off to the "parting out" section.

got spark by repairing the coilL  needed 2 NGK splice kits, and 4 new NKG plug leads.  cleaned the carbs and was surprised how clean they were, hasn't been registered since 2005 or so.  full disass down to the rack.  replaced bowl gaskets and cleaned all pieces/parts and payed special attention to the pesky idle circuits.  floats looked new, and everything cleaned up nicely.  new fuel lines and in-line filter.  borrowed wife's hair drier and softened up the rubbers and the rack popped right back on.  no prob. ;)

took off the oil pan and filter, cleaned all and replaced with new gasket and filter.  pan was pretty nice, with no hard bits sleeping in there ,and the screen was good too.

today i reassembled the pan/filter and refilled w/fresh oil, tonight i'll rinse the tank and clean the petcock.

I shared this in the SSDB but thought I would post this here as well. I didn't do anything to my bike, but this guy has a pirate ship and he was detailing his bike in a cove I came into last night.  Thought others here would get a kick out of it ;)

                                      before

this was done after sand blasting and using the primer etc,,vht products,,took six months to look like this, check the cheap no name gloss enamel on the barrell thats not even meant for engines, let alone air cooled ones!

There sure were - 170 bikes, quite a spectacle! There were a couple of Kwaka 900s, one had a fairing with "Stone" on it  :) , 5 or so CB750s, a few CB500s too. A Douglas and a Hudson from around the '30s I guess. It was my first rally on the CB and she was in good company!

ive often wondered if anyone has a genuine"stone"bike,,if you look close most have consectutive rego plate numbers,,also during the fight scene a couple of the "dodos"(hawks)bikes have a rego number above/below or inbetween by one number or two,,they probably got a whole lot of bikes regoed for the film and thought i wouldnt notice?

Now I'm going to have to watch it again! I bought my CB from a guy who was in the movie; he was hired for the pub fight scene, together with a bunch of others from his bike club.

Maybe my next project will have to be a Kwaka 900 - although those fairings are a bit out there these days.

Changed the rear swingarm bushings, and while I had the rear wheel off I replaced the rear tire, the rear wheel bearings, and polished up the rear hub a bit...
