Checked over the K4 to get ready to meet old scrambler and Godzilla in Green Bay this afternoon. I hope GZ does no damage to Lambeau Field - Home of the Super Bowl Champions. :) I hear GZ  is a Packer fan through and through...

Unfortunately I wrecked my 650 during part of the Michigan portion of the relay.  I'm ok (road rash and a bruised ego) and the bike is ride-able (other than a good dent in the tank and a bent right handlebar, it is in remarkable shape) but now I thinking on completely stripping it down and going all out cafe racer...  oh the possibilities!

Bummer dude.  Glad to see you're still typing!!

Thank you for concern!
Fortunately I was riding with a great bunch of guys who patched me and my bike up.  Our next stop was "Fuzzball" 's house and fortunately his wife is an RN.
I set out to take Godzilla across the Mackinaw Bridge and into Michigan's UP and even on a smashed up bike, that's what i got to do.  I have no regrets.

re-painted the 4-1 headers again(who can get heat paint to hold?),i seem to do this every year or sooner,,weve got a bike show next weekend,i cant go looking shabby.

                                      before

this was done after sand blasting and using the primer etc,,vht products,,took six months to look like this, check the cheap no name gloss enamel on the barrell thats not even meant for engines, let alone air cooled ones!
I used this http://paintexhaustmanifold.com/ and its held up VERY well for over two riding seasons now. I put on about 3 coats over the chrome that I sanded down using 400 grit sandpaper.. Well worth the money, only had to but one can.

you had to ask tews,,its good for a laugh if youve had a few beers,,this was 70s australia dont forget!thanks strynboen for that clip, doug parkinson sings the intro song which i quite like, and thanks zaipai for the link,,my paint is over bare metal,,i think it would be harder to get it to stick to chrome, ive used the cheap stufff this time.

EDIT. the opening scene tews19 has a bad guy set up a tight wire across a road, then a biker comes hurtling along on his z900 and his head gets chopped off,it cuts to a helmet rolling along the road with what looks like his head still in it past the bike laying on its side with the rear wheel still spinning, can you dig it man?

I was all ready to replace my front stop switch and buy new front brake lines in the process but I figured I'd try messing with the switch one more time. I tapped lightly around it with a wrench and checked for continuity across the terminals while grabbing the brake lever.

Nothing the first few times, I was about to give up when after about 5 pulls on the lever I got a continuity reading. Stoked!

Soldered in some new temporary wires, crimped on new connectors, hooked the wires back up and now the brake light lights up when the lever is in...double-stoked!

Went through the bins that came with the 73 500 project, looking for stuff to send to powder coat.  It turned into a small pile. :o  Just the frame, battery box, electric panel, and some seat fittings.  Seems the PO had an in with a chrome shop.  Fork lowers, hubs,  swing arm, centre stand, side stand, rocker cover, engine mounts, all chromed - bonus!! ;D ;D  There is also most of a 2ND engine from the crank up (no tranny or main cases).  Only 2 not so good pieces.  The front fender has been badly chopped, and has a dent; and the seat is toast.  Very bad replacement cover, suspect foam, and a rotted out seat pan. :(  Also not sure if I will keep the mounted 16" rear rim.  Have to look into tire choices, and how it affects handling.

Thanks the hoops are deep red anodized excels with polished hubs and spokes.  $750 is a very fair price.

ive often wondered if anyone has a genuine"stone"bike,,if you look close most have consectutive rego plate numbers,,also during the fight scene a couple of the "dodos"(hawks)bikes have a rego number above/below or inbetween by one number or two,,they probably got a whole lot of bikes regoed for the film and thought i wouldnt notice?

What is this STONE movie you speak of?

It was the '70s cult classic that set the scene for Mad Max as well; Mad Max's Toecutter was in both for example. Acting's terrible but the Z900s are pretty cool. Not sure if there's a link but you can't get a good Z900 here in Aus now for less than $8-10k. There are three on bikesales at the moment over $15k each!
