Took in a 1973 750 lower end as partial payment(only 50 of the 600 owed) for the work done on 1966 Dream.  Power washed it and found the upper case had a fiberglass repair job from a thrown chain.  Still looking for a good lower end ::)...Larry

Got the 550 back from having the jetting fine tuned.  Tuner took it around the block ( ::)) to do a final high end jet check.  1st time I've heard the pipes over 3500.  Pulled 8K+ a block away, and it sounded just like the videos of Honda race bikes. 8) 8)

However at well over 100+db, baffles are needed. :(  Bad news there was a major failure of the bolt that secures the remote adapter to the engine.  Luckily, it happened at the shop, after the blast.  Basically the oil pressure striped the bolt out. :o  Time to upgarde it to the mk2 version.

Rode it to work today.  Had to load my stuff back on the Bus, I've got a field trip on Sunday.  Found one of the main roads to work was closed to through traffic.  Went in a different way, but of course, on the way home I had to take my usual way.  Just had to find out what was up.  They're replacing a bridge over a creek.  So naturally I had to go 3 miles out of my way to get home. ;D ;D ;)

Finally broke down and replaced the rabbit ears with bar-ends. Very happy with the look and visibility.

Also, both turn signals were flashing very slow when they worked at all, replaced the flasher replay to the tune of $10 aftermarket as opposed to $70 for the OEM part  :o.

Pulled the plugs to look at em after I had redone the carbs. Adjusted the air/fuel a bit, adjusted the chain, and detailed it. Took it for a ride and to the grocery store for some liquid refreshments. Talked to the people looking at it in the grocery store parking lot for 10 minutes, rode home and am enjoying the liquid right now as a matter of fact. GREAT Day  ;)

Rode it up to Rockerbox in Milwaukee. Saw at least a dozen SOHC4's in various sizes and styles. I will post pic's soon.

Adjusted the cam chain tensioner, the drive chain, tightened the headset nut. Cleaned up the chrome.

Put it up for sale on eBay.

My plan was always to sell it after the Relay Rally. I held onto it an extra couple months so I could ride the Michigan leg of the rally. Now that that's done. Time for the next project. I am targeting a 75-77 wire wheel Goldwing. However, I think I will look for a 750 this winter. All of you are just too much from.

You cant stay here if you dont own a SOHC. You will need to cancel your membership, but everyone here is reasonable. When you buy another one you can come back.

Hah, talk to the guys over at the Royal Enfield forum. I sold my Enfield 3 years ago and I still drop by now and again.

There is always the "other bikes" thread for me here.

Reinstalled the oil tank.......damn thing is going back together very slowly.

Put the handlebar controls, tach, speedo and headlight bucket.

Guess I'll run the wire harness next, battery tray and acc. Hopefully get it to the point to fire it up by this weekend.

Last night I picked up a CB750 K4.  I found it listed on craigslist for $1200.00, I gave the guy $100 to hold until yesterday and paid a total of $800.00 with a clear Indiana title. It needs a wiring harness and some TLC mainly.  He said the points burned up one day when he left the key on.  He showed me the old harness, it looked like a third grader had tried to repair it. He replaced the points and points plate but said he couldn't figure out the harness and gave up.
I'm not going to get too crazy on trying to restore this bike until my other projects are complete.  I will however be getting it running and calling it a "wrench and ride".  Look for more picks in the project shop, I'll be starting a thread there.

Started in on replacing the oil in the forks... ran into a problem. What was a simple job might be a front end tear down.

Appears the oil is OEM, came out like a grease, not an oil!

Had to pour some oil in it and agitate with the springs to get it to flow out on the left side. Right side drained after a few minutes.

Blech. Filled with trans oil and left it overnight. If it runs out reasonably clean I may just fill it back up and run it until springs/boots/seals show up.
