Ground all the OEM steel tabs off a CB750A Hondamatic bobber frame and mounted the Harley tank. Next is welding the rear tubing for the hardtail and mounting the axle plates. This afternoon I plan to ride my Amen Savior 750 chopper and replace the stator cover gasket on my 69 K0. School starts soon so I am pushing the bike thing pretty hard.

Finally pulled the fairing off and replaced all of the clamps. The fairing was sitting crooked from when I crashed on the Michigan leg of the rally. It was an inch higher on one side from the other.
It's all straightened out now.

Got my tank to the local sandblaster, and got it back. Now I'm just waiting to go back to O'reillys to get my quart of Red Kote (which they are a dealer for BTW). Then I'm gonna give everything a good wash and drying tomorrow, and then get the parts to fabricator for reassembly and then coating.

Broke the tach cable Saturday, so Sunday replaced with with a spare I had. Then just some light cleaning/polish.

Just sat and sweated and looked at it, and sweated........too freakin hot to do anything....heat index today 111.

Still got the battery box mounted.

I finally got my clutch cover off and replaced my broken clutch push rod. Wow!!

What an amazing difference! Now I know why they say the 500 is so smooth. My father in law even took it out for a ride, first one this year. He said that it must have been broken for a long time. Smooth!!

Heat finally broke here in Nebraska this AM. It was a nice 67 degrees this morning. So, I rode it to work. It was awesome!

I tried prying, but couldn't get a good purchase. I whaled on it with a rubber mallet, no go. I finally pounded on it with the persuader and it popped loose. I really was afraid it would crack the aluminum cover, but it didn't.

got the 360t legs on the bike...
(well test fitted anyway)
was supposed to be a simple swap only to find the triple cracked so i had to get a triple from a 400....
also painted the lowers

Put in Accel coils and wires, took her for a test run and it sounded absolutely top notch. Idle was crisp and steady.

Got home, checked the pugs, nice even tan across all the plugs.

Seemed to run hot, I am going to replace the d7ea's with D8s.

well... technically the bike isn't MINE but my buddy and I did work on it.

also it technically wasn't today, it was sat/sun (still within the span of 14 contiguous hours though)

We filled the forks with 8oz of ATF, I'm hoping that won't be too much. My buddy weighs a good bit over 200lbs and I'm sure he'll appreciate a bit stiffer dampening as opposed to riding a pogo stick

The biggest problems we ran into:
1) the forks that came on this thing were off of a cb350. I didn't realize how different the fork lowers were until we went to put it all together, my later fork tubes and springs would NOT fit it.
so if anyone wants a set of freshly rebuilt and painted cb350 forks let me know

2) We planned to throw the wheels and tires from my K7 on there but didn't realize that the early and later K's had different hubs. So, after about a million different tries with different acles and spacers and drums and whatnot we finally realized the left side of the hub was larger on the K7. Probably to make up for the wider swingarm and greater offest on the later F and K bikes.
So we would up cleaning 2 sets of hubs. The hardest part of all of this and probably of the entire build was that farking bearing retainer. Using TWO spanner wrenches it still took forever to get off. Joe came to the rescue when putting it back on and helped by holding them in place with a board and his weight. The added leverage of turning the board also helped greatly.

3) The center stand spring. That thing is a mother effer. Joe also had another stroke of genius though. (see below)

Joe may have come up with it on his own, but the pennies in the spring trick has been around for many years. Could have been a latent memory that sprang forth as the need arose.

Or he may have thought of it from whole cloth, I wouldn't dispute it. Funny how that is.

Bleed the brakes on the 550F and in he process of tightening he valve was squirted in the eye with brake fluid... Horrible headache now.

Gnarley: I'm about 230 pounds, I went with 15 wt fork oil when I did the seals on my 550 forks. They work very well.

Earlier today I rode out to the local Wally World to get a new watch band. Got drenched on the way home. Later, after it cleared up, I treated myself to a nice 30 mile ride on the back roads.

Beat my caliper into submission. The bleeder and hose port were both stuck. Had to dremel flat spots on opposing sides of both and get her in the vise. Some PB blaster and cursing later, the caliper is free. Moving on to the stuck piston next. Filled the caliper with PB and letter her sit for a few days before the attempt.

Lubed and reinstalled my choke cable (still binds though) and took it for a nice ride on a beautiful clear summer evening.

Removed carbs for a cleaning.....gave it new oil and filter!!!! Took it for a spin and it died...sat on the road side for 15min and it fired back up and got me home!!!
