Gave it a good spit and polish.  Taking it to her first show tomorrow.  Not expecting anything, but it will be a new gig for me.  I'm used to the the classic car scene, which is getting pretty damn boring around here.  It's time to hang out with the other motorcycle nerds.

Cleaned the ports.
Scraped off tonnes of gasket material. Prepped for new gaskets.
Checked the rings.
Cleaned one piston head. Rest tomorrow.

Discovered lots of little parts on the bike that are SUPPOSED to be metallic, but were so covered in grime they appeared painted. Mostly the rear wheel area.

Now I got dishwater hands from so much scrubbing!

I think I spent 6 to 8 hrs working on her today. More planned tomorrow.

Stuck a headlight bucket on the K8 750 and pulled all the wires inside it . Sat on a stool in front of the bike and put all the wires together ( I love this part, really ! ) Got all the stuff working, that is after I re-fit the rear fender and tail-light and the rear brake light switch. Basically, it's legal to ride, headlight, tail-light, brake light.....no turnsignals yet. have 1 broke spoke on the back wheel.... want to replace the spokes, frustrated no-one has spoke sets for a 17 in. K8 wheel... lots and lots of 18 in. spoke sets available  :'( :'(

put some new Oury grips on my 750KO and so far I like them. Got 120 mains in now with a K&N filter also rerouted the fuel lines. Finally got clutch adjusted to where its not creeping anymore. The KO is coming around and starting to act and run like it is supposed to.This bike is awesome!! I really like my K6, but there is just something special about the 4/70 750 KO ;D ;D I've had this bike for 3 months now, but it's still hard to believe I lucked up on this gem and its mine clear title and all. Not bragging just very lucky. Don't give up SOHC/4er's the bikes and the deals are still out there!!

I discovered the tach may be wrong because it won't read correctly, So...off it goes and a new dash plate allows more room for clutch cable, choke relocation and put the turn indicators where I'll see them so I don't leave the left turn on for 3 miles!

Seems like it was the day for wires!
Installed the bars, new brake lines, blinkers, bucket & pulled the wires.
Stripped & painted the gauge bracket.
I stopped there since by then it was ~105° in the shop and I figured I'd need all my wits to hook up the wires... :o

Pulled engine side covers and then pulled engine out and sat it on the table. Easy one man job. ;).
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Finished giving the swingarm a quick coat of Rustoleum to protect it, someday I will get it powder coated.

While paint was drying, refitted pistons to block, the hose clamp trick worked like a treat.

Cleaned the years of grease/dirt/oil/muck off the back of the engine before reassembly

Reassembled that after a good greasing, mounted rear tire.

Now, once the damn pucks get here, I can get it all back together. Can't believe they were not in the top end kit.

I braved the weather, and rode to a local show.  Hung out for a few hours, and saw some very cool bikes.
I left just in a nick of time too.  As soon as my back tire entered the garage the heavens opened and it was a total monsoon.

Did a second coat of Redkote today.  It was going well until it came time to drain off the excess from in the tank.  It had already started setting up, what was coming out of the tank was long stringy globs.  Got most of the excess out, and sloshed what I couldn't around the tank till there was a nice even coating.  I just looked I have a little bit of puddling inside, but I'm hoping it will still cure ok after I let it sit for a few days.

On my '75 550K did  a thorough wash and for the first time time wax in three years. Boy, did it make that flake sunrise shine! She's all original and in great condition with just1 10K miles. I consider myself lucky to own her. Also did a 40 mile short ride before the thunderstorms came.

On the '75 750k 5 was about to rebuild the front brake caliper. Was off, cleaned and ready to go, but put off reinstall and ordered some Dow Corning Vacuum grease, highly recommended. OK, I'll wait a week to get back on the road. The last stuff I used, the hi-temp silicone stuff in the tiny packets at autozone ruined the last break rehab. It melted, got absorbed by the brake pads, caused them to swell ever so slightly causing brake dragging. At least that's my analysis. It was hard not to just put the caliper back together and go, but patience, Grasshopper. I don't want to do this again for awhile-- I mean years.

What bars did you use on your bike?  They appear to be drag bars....but longer than the standard ones you find everywhere.

Got mine running sh$%tty but runs. Took it for a cruise around the hood and a cop was comin towards me. Mind you, I had been working on the bike, I was in shorts, flip-flop, and a bright azz orange bike week t-shirt. No wallet, insurance tags, registration and had a few to boot. I panicked and sped down the side street. Pumped the choke and throttle just to keep the damn thing going. Don't know how the heck I got away, but was able to get into my garage and look out the window and there he goes, right on by.

Picked up a new battery for the 400SS.  The old one was from 2007, and would take a charge but not hold it.  Probably a bad cell.  Dropped the 550 off to have the cam degree'd.  Should get it back tomorrow.
