Took delivery of an almost perfect used seat from ebay.
I got it about 10 mins after it went up for an amazingly low buy-it-now price.  I am very pleased!  :D

Received a seat today as well, from TerryK for the 500 project.  From the description I knew it would be useable.  However, looks like a very good cleaning, and a polish of the strap hardware, and it will be great. 8)

Yeah, this seat supposedly came from a K5.
It's almost too nice to believe it's original.
My fear is that because it's potentially 35 years old it will start to disintegrate once I start riding! ::)

Walked down the stairs to the basement.  Looked at the oil pan sitting on the floor catching drips of oil.  Thought about my spent Primary Chain and how much of a rebuild I want to do.  Thought about funding.  Realized I like expensive beer and that would cut into the rebuild fund.  Remembered its been a while since I made a few bathes of homebrew.  Went to the brew store and bought enough supplies for 120 bottles of fantastic beer.  Remembered how much fun brewing is.  Now I get to wait 2 months before its ready  :'(

Back to worrying about my rebuild.

You made me think about it after I cheered knowing someone else would like to know what these control freaks are up to.
Every time any owner strips whatever precious Honda part the horrified purists parts go up in value. That's not the part that bothers them.
What bothers them is they sat up late at night, their breast full of wonder and estrogen, unable to sleep, dreaming about their lovely darling and all her glory... and next thing you know someone else doesn't share their emotional deluge and their reaction is they must spread their mind museum as far as they possibly can, taking over as much of the real world as possible.

rode the 750KO to work. nice ride to and from work. Coming home on Interstate 85 running between 70 and 75 mph just cruising along keeping up with traffic and a wild hair from my youth hit me and I had to twist the throttle and before I could say CB750 I hit 100 mph or the big ton as its referred to here and the big KO was still pulling strong a wanting to keep on going, but this 54 year decided the smart thing to do was to get rid of the wild hair quick before it got me in trouble, so I back out of it. but what fun it was ;) No wonder these bikes were classified as: The first real superbike.

I took off the clubmans and stock gauges, mocked up the dunstall clip-ons and then took a photo and touched up the shot to see how it will look after I cut the back end of the frame - trying for some clean air between the seat and wheel.

I'm constantly inspired by the people and bikes on this forum while getting more and more excited about my next move with this bike..

I really like the seat.. Where did you get it?

Thanks,  unfortunately I don't deserve any credit for it. It's a Guliari seat, I'm pretty sure they made them in the 70's. I think someone is selling a repro on fee bay.

forum member Ricky_Racer makes an excellent replica (link) http://www.classiccyclecity.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=46

Those look WAY better than the repro one I saw, I think it was from Vietnam or something... I'll have to find out if RR can make a repro cover for mine. I know Guiliari made a few different styles.

Yea that's the hondaclassic31 one that I spent $170 on and the guy never sent me.  Roped me along until after the paypal and ebay claim limit was over and then suddenly couldn't find any record of me paying him.....  I had even bought one seat off of him prior to that.  The quality was so so and the foam very uncomfortable.

Well yesterday.....
Number 2 son needed a few things from home - He's a freshman at Auburn WAR EAGLE!! - So I rode the scooter down to be the delivery boy for him.
1974 CB750 K4 Stock as stock can get.
I took curvy county roads on the way down and state highway on the way back - 230 miles
Average speed - 70ish Where the law allowed.... and some places it didn't
MPG - 43
7 - "I used to have one of those"
4 - "I always wanted one of those"
3 - "What year is that"
1 - " Damn hippie biker" (I was wearing a tie-dye Jerry Garcia shirt AND I am in Alabama....)

The 'ol girl ran great the whole trip without a sputter and made dad proud.
So, all I did today was ride her....

been away from the cb750 heap/project for some time, and finally got back to it today.  after finally sorting out coils that had faulty caps on 1/4 and broken wires on 2/3, i set about checking fuel delivery.  i had cleaned the carbs (paying special attention to the idle circuits), cleaned the tank, cleaned the sock filter, replaced fuel lines (had broken down rubber bits inside), and added fresh fuel.

she started on a couple of cylinders, then all four, then died, then ran great, then burbled to a stop.  yoiks! where to start?  i looked at my new fuel lines and they had some "sags" in them but all were lower than the petcock.  couldn't be that, right?

but then i sort of remember TT saying "no fuel line sags, you little creep" or something like that so i routed the fuel lines a little differently/better/flatter and zoom started right up! engine (44,xxxmiles) is strong as hell everywhere.  starts immediately, shifts crisply, idles at 900rpms, no warm-up time, all pipes evenly hot.  i think think this is the best runner i've had.

this bike has very nice jardine turn-outs, good fenders, a very nice period aftermarket dual seat and a great tank.  huge potential, will keep me busy all winter for sure.

all electrics, including the charging system, work fine.  speedo/tacho are nice and steady.  head bearings feel nice; swingarm bushings, brakes, forks, rims/spokes and shocks are toast.  needs paint.

i think i'm gonna build a cruiser:  lowered, mini-apes, grab rail/sissy bar, ma and pa seat, maybe a 16inch rear w/extended forks.  should be fun!  later,
bobp

Time for an oil change, I swear I thought I heard her sigh when I cranked her up... A qt of lucas, 3 qt of 5-40... A quick spin through the neighborhood to check for leaks... All is well.
MAN! I love this bike!
