Finally hooked up with Tintop....real nice guy....very informative......with a reeeeaaal nice 400F.
Definitely deserves his 15 minutes.
Nice ride through the twisties..
Thanks
Steve

We'll have to do another ride Swoop.  Found a bunch of nice stuff to string together, on the way back.  If my adapter parts shows up before the weekend, I'll give you a call.  Also give me an excuse to see some of those other projects of yours. :)

Delivered it to the new owner.

Dang, she is gone? How is the goldwing doing?

Yep, she should be in her new home in South Carolina by now.

Well, I did quite a lot this weekend, pulled the fairing and bags (temporarily), installed new timing belts, a new thermostat and coolant hoses, set the valves and points, however not all good. I broke one of the float pin towers while trying to remove a pin on carb #1. I went ahead and rebuilt the carb pair that was intact, but didn't do 1 or 4 since I figured I would be buying a full set (you rarely see one carb for sale) and would just rebuild the 1-4 pair together.

I found out from a Wing forum member today that Randakk's makes a tower repair kit where you get a machined aluminum tower and everything you need to install it. Apparently the method is so proprietary that he won't even tell you how the new tower in installed until you buy the kit.

Still, he is the old 'Wing guru, so I am willing to trust him. Plus, $38 beats the hell out of $100+ for a used set of carbs.

Split the cases today, here is the primary chain wear. Definitely hitting the oil gallery from the pump to the oil filter. Now I get to wait on parts.

Sanded plastic.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

If you do a search here you will find a member that welds the tower back on. He has some sort of a micro set up to weld aluminum. I have forgotten who it was (few years back).

I read about that on another site after a Google search. His site crashed a few weeks back and isn't back up yet.

Pulled carbs again, that thing does not start now.  Could it be the safety inspection sticker?

Took my carbs apart & cleaned 'em.

Prognosis: clogged slow jets.

Now I know.

Cut the 25+ year old tires off of my Alumunum hoops. Trusty saw-zall and an angle grinder for the bead. Much easier than beating up the hoops with a set of spoons.

Aren't you supposed to make it cough when you do that?

It definitely cried rape a few times... but its costing me a mini fortune to rebuild so I felt I'd get my moneys worth of fondling in.

Tank back from painter.  Applied a coat of epoxy around the top of the gas tank filler neck to to seal the lip and keep the paint from lifting again.  Painter did a beautiful job and don't want it to get eff'd up again.

So nice!

Thanks.  Love this Orange....just glows in the sunlight.

Took her for a ride for the first time since May.  Can't tell if she's hesitating a bit or just feels slow after riding around all summer on the other bike.  Probably a bit of both.  Did a quick carb cleaning about a month ago, but didn't bother to pull the emulsion tubes....so of course they probably need it.  Guess it's time for the carbs to come out again.   ::)

Good word Ron!!! The stuff is amazing although I think it has taken a big jump in price lately. Used to get it for around $6-7 and just paid $10 for a new and improved different shaped can. Still cheaper than pulling the carbs and all.

Indy4 - Gorgeous scoot!

I just rode mine to work - beautiful day.  Only had it about a month, so still getting used to it... the idle at warm up has been rough with an interesting rhythm and then idles high once warm (2k).  On a whim, as it was just warming up, I felt the headers.  #2,3,4 = hot.  #1 = cool.  Hmmm.  After a very cursory search here, seems I might need to do a bit of carb cleaning.  Nothing like jumping in w/both feet! ;)
