Changed wheels. Now i have almost new tires and finally 18" rear wheel. Former tires were dry cracked something awful.

I took a break from wrenching today but I rode my 360T to the gas station and realized I had left my debit card in the ATM.  So after having shocked it to life on reserve, I had to ride it back to the house about a mile on the gas in the carb bowls.

Installed the Tarozzi rear sets.  :) I like! Very nice mounting system, but would be nicer if both bolts went through the front into the back plate. The one that goes through the back is hard to get to unless you have the swing arm off. Also nice that I can pull the linkage pin, flip the brake pedal up, fold up the foot peg and still use the kicker if needed.

Ughhhh one last ride of the season on both bikes then parked them in the basement.  Snow on the way tonight. LAME

Shutting her down for the winter today. Yesterday the bike had a great deal of power loss. Lots of hesitation. Couldn't get above 65-70 on the highway. This morning I noticed the fuel filter was broke. Not sure how the hell that happened. Replaced that and the fuel line again. Bike still ran like poop. Now I will have to pull the tank, reclean  and redo the carbs again. #4 pipe was a lot cooler then the others and white smoke was coming out from it... Oh well.. Next season I will probably sell her and ride my build that will be finished this winter

Left the petcock on while I went out to buy beer, and came back to a garage floor full of gas.

Welp.....guess I can now pull the petcock and install the new filter......considering theres no gas left in the tank.

I sorted through the bits and pieces of my 550 and 350 project bikes.  Then I got going and polished a pile of stuff.

This photo is from some weeks ago but gives you an idea how 30 year old stuff that looks like crap can be brought back quickly.  It's amazing how it changes your frame of mind - you can't wait to get on with other things so you can see the final product.

Tonight I finish assembly of my 3rd set of CB900C carbs and tear down the PD46s from my 550, throw them in Pine Sol to soak overnight.

shouldn't the float valves shut off the flow of gas despite the open petcock?  did I miss something?

You would think so, wouldn't you..................guess the float valves or floats are messed up.

I'm not smart enough on this subject to know for sure.

theoretically, correct. And, if parked on the center stand, frequently happens. Leaning it on the side stand tho, puts them on a slant and the older they get, the more likely they are to stick....

After spending a couple of hours washing and polishing it was time to take her out and get dirty - again!  I filled up with fuel - unfortunately 98octane, wanted 95, shouldn't matter, just clean the plugs of any carbon.  "That's a really nice looking old bike" said the tattooed, bearded, torn t-shirt wearing guy. "Haven't finished yet" I replied.  ;D

Then we went out for a ride around the 3 towns with the mandatory pose down each of the main streets - just in case someone was looking! Had fish and chips at arealy good cafe, rode home, parked in shed, patted her on the seat - said "stay", closed the shed door and went inside the house.   8)

Oh I do like to ride.!!  8)

I never shut off the petcock on my bike.  Always use the side stand and never have any gas leaks.

You're basically trusting your floats to do the job of your petcock valve.  If any one of the floats stick, you could lose a whole tank of gas.
