That's right Greggo. I looked at my manual for my 1968 SuperHawk and it says when parking for an extended period, turn off the petcock. My experience tells me an extended period is several hours or more. I'm sure all the 70s era CBs have the same comment.

I would never leave a motorcycle parked in a garage overnight with the petcock on. I've gotten out of bed to check on more than one occasion.
hate to highjack this thread, but since this is a safety issue, I'll say my piece and get off.

Not only can you get gas overflowing into the garage as stated, the gas can go into the crankcase if the intake valve on that cylinder is open. It can go by way of fumes which condense on the cold cylinder sleeve. Then washes down past the rings. In my mechanicing days, we did tuneups where we'd pull the drain plug and too much oil would come out (350s and 450s mostly). Gas in the oil.

I would turn off the gas when I'm pulling into my drive. That allows the engine to suck down the float levels a bit before i finally turn off the engine.

AS I stated elsewhere, modern bikes have vacuum operated petcocks where this is no longer an issue. Starting 1982 or so. On any manual petcock, turn off the gas when parking the bike, and try to use the centerstand for long period parking, to keep the floats from sticking.

faund the old diesella from 1957..last run for 4 years ago..have sitting on the roof room?? from 1982..but have a short trip on it for 4 years ago

Ok ill try this again

Put the "F" to bed for the winter into storage.

Kept the chopper in the garage working on tuning and a few odds and ends , after all there never really "Done".Getting very cold, weather showes snow a bit this week.

Roof room? You mean attic?

Neat! Danish. Looks like Diesella is still in business. Not much info about their motorcycles.

Stripped the front caliper down and found it filled with gunge, rubbish and a modicum of crap.
The piston is not only rusty it's seriously pitted and too far gone to re-use.
Hey ho more of my pension spent before I receive it !

I wrapped in Asbestos (I think that's on English) panel-I can't find Asbestos strip-they are not made anymore!!

I went through the boxes of parts I bought in Saskatoon with the 2 - 1972 frames and engine and found among other treasures.... 2 ignition switches, 1 with a key that fit the seat I couldn't get off!!! Turns out the pan and foam are original and in great shape, but could use a recovering.

Any recommendations for a good seat cover for a stock (1976 CB750K) seat? Either original or maybe a guliari (with the hump on the back)...

Classic Cycle City makes the repro Giuliari seats - he's a member on here, and I've heard nothing but great things about his seats.

powdercoated front rim should be back in a few days, in the meanwhile i refreshed the rear brake stuff. (new cotter pins tomorrow!)

The Cycle-X polymer coated rocker arms & shafts have arrived for my 750 K1 rebuild. Of course, the expectation is reducing friction and wear on the all contact points. Can’t wait to see how this works out ...

They are identical to the ones in this photo.

39 degrees and 13 miles, was a beautiful ride. Almost ran over a large road kill, raccoon I think.

Machined two back-up rings for my CB450 forks since the OEM parts (51452-319-010) are no longer available, and sourced two 50mm internal circlips to finish the job.

Thanks, I like them too, but they seem a bit wide with the new seat and pegs. I've got some regular Super Bike bars that I'll put on and shorten a bit for a narrower feel.
Isn't fun tweaking these things?

Hey thanks mate, that's a great price too, I just ordered a set of their knurled folding rearsets for my K1, I installed some Laverda Jota bars, but the riding position was horrible with the standard footpeg position, so I took them off again. Once the Tarozzi's arrive, they're going back on again..........

Clutch cable broke on the way home from work this evening. Had to ride home with out. Got it jury rigged for the morning. This was a Motion Pro cable that I bought less than a year ago.
