Topic: What did you do to your bike today ?

Clutch cable broke on the way home from work this evening.  Had to ride home with out.  Got it jury rigged for the morning.  This was a Motion Pro cable that I bought less than a year ago.

That's no good mate, did you have it properly routed and lubed? I've only broken a clutch cable twice, both times miles from home, I was able to ride home the first time (in the 'burbs) but the second time when I busted the cable on my BMW R100RS in the middle of Melbourne, I had to get my guys to come collect me with a van. Yeah, it's routed properly, but the cable was about 4 inches longer than the original.  The bike resides outside 24/7 and is ridden rain or shine, so maybe it could have used more lubing.

Pulled the coils off my 500 after a good ride.  Dyna 5ohms are going on later this week.  Old ones are going on the 750 tomorrow.  Hope to post that I've gotten her running tomorrow!!

New air filter - concoction of car  filter, aluminum stock, old sunbrella and piece of radiator hose.  It works.

Hey thanks mate, that's a great price too, I just ordered a set of their knurled folding rearsets for my K1, I installed some Laverda Jota bars, but the riding position was horrible with the standard footpeg position, so I took them off again. Once the Tarozzi's arrive, they're going back on again..........

 

Wow Terry! Your bikes always make me want to re-evaluate my wish list.  Hope you like the rear sets, with the folding ones you can still use your kick starter, all you have to do is fold the peg, pull a pin in the linkage and swing the brake pedal out out of the way, put the pin back and ride on. A little time consuming, but doable.

Got my 750 running for the first time in about fifteen years!  Yes, it felt damn good, and it sounded like a beast!

Checked my tire pressure on my '71 750 and then went for a ride to see some friends. Too short of ride though, starting to get colder around here now. I just hate to think that soon there will be that stupid white stuff all over the ground and it won't leave until Feb. or March.

removed the carbs, cleaned and put back on.. Had to cut 1/4" off the #3 spark plug wire.. There was some corrosion in there. Bike fired up, no more loss of power or laggn'.... Feels good to have it work properly.. Also snapped this pic while driving. You can see her idling right on the money.
She is becoming a beast. i need a little less then 100 miles and I put 2k on here since I bought her.Thanks to DAVE500 for the help with the spark plug wire idea.

Thanks BB and Fred, I won't be using a kick starter as I'll be fitting my CycleX lockup clutch which negates the use of the kicker, but I like the idea of having fold up pegs so if it ever falls over, hopefully I won't break a peg off. Cheers, Terry.

Installed bikemaster clubman bars. Had fitment issues with the turn signals, so the stalks are just hanging for now. Also managed to disable the headlight. Gauge lights still work so I'm in the dark (hurr hurr pun) for now. No pictures yet, finished when it was getting dark.

Managed to get it to idle properly and actually rev without dying. Might try taking it out tomorrow if it starts up again.

finished my first top end rebuild.  really only honed and re-ringed, new cam chain tensioner, seated the valves, new gaskets. Now to swap engines in my 72 cb750 as the one in there now is a 74 engine.  will be nice to get the correct engine back in her.

Then ill be building up the 74 frame and engine for a friend this winter.   I think Stev-o is working on a 74' as well.

While waiting for the Honda's new phenolic caliper piston to arrive I took the 'Little Un' for a sunny 70 mile ride around Cumbria and North Yorkshire. Stopped for a photo shoot on one of my favourite roads over the fells.
It doesn't get much better than this !

Fixed my leaky tach drive on my '74 CB750 with a new oil seal, and hit 25,000 original miles today!!! woo!

tried setting the points and timing only to realize i was being stupid and looking at it too hard. after 30 minutes of fighting it i found out i was doing it wrong..5 minutes later i was in like flint. hard starting problems gone!! will ride it tommorrow after the frost on the ground goes away.
