Pulled the head and jugs off of the engine to find that piston 1 has absolutely no carbon on it. WTF? 2, 3 and 4 have more buildup as you go down the line.

Well I had intended to do lots of work on my K1 this weekend but my back was giving me some grief yesterday and it was pouring with rain, so all I got done was the new Tarozzi rearsets today.

They're very well made and are a good fit, unlike the crappy RAASK rearsets, and I like that they fold up, but it looks like Taqozzi should have done a little more "R&D" on them as the gear selector lever that goes on the splined shaft will rub adainst the cover if pushed all the way home, and the brake pedal lever needs a spacer between the frame and the lever, and was missing the 8mm screw.

Still all in all very nicely made and good fit. Next weekend I'll give the front end a birthday and change the fork tubes, remove the gaiters and replace the OEM headlight ears with some aftermarket items. Cheers, terry.

Today was a rare day as the temp was in the mid to high 50's here in Michigan and some sun.Took down a little load of nice cherry wood to the shop for Mr. Woodburner and could hear the Old School Chop crying in the background. Had not rode her in a few months so saddled her up and ran her till after dark.Had a few cocktails out on the road with a couple of buds and a lot of fun and am pretty certain it may be my last ride of the year.Crappy pics but lots of fun,anybody notice the old Ducktail seat  and Pods  ---Last ride ?---Maybe we'll see---

That's a cool ol' 750 Eric, is that the one that had the engine damage on the points side when you got it? I love that 1970's era tank art too mate, it's the tits!

Hi Terry, why not reverse the gear change linkage so it sits underneath instead of on top.

Hey Terry.  The engine with cam damage was a deal I picked up off a guy a couple years ago. He had taken the valve cover/cam out to expose that problem. He had already picked up another engine but was broke and lost interest so I took everything he had for $200.00,rolling chassis,engines etc.
  The 'chopper' came to me with this body set which I still have. The Boobie tank was from a fellow who had a big bore engine and a bunch of other old racing bits I bought out.Have had it now for around 4 years and the only thing I have done is clean the carbs when I got it and a few oil changes.Have never even pulled the plugs yet. Has Dyna coils,ignition and who knows what else. Has Pods with know issues at all,runs very strong through the whole rev range,that is till I get caught in a real rain gusher like I did when Godzilla was in town.Had to make an 'airbox' out of some free car seller mags from a gas station to get her home.

Installed a new fancy brake stay from Joker Machine that looks awesome even if you can hardly see it. It needs longer bolts though because you can't get the cotter pins in and they are special bolts. Also whined,beeched, and moaned about the tank emblems from them not being formed to fit the tank (made seperate thread about that). Pics later in the day...........

Took the old lady to work today, inspected my carb leak and seriously considered doing my first rebuild!

Pulled the ignition switch out of the 750 - it has finally given up and is not allowing me to put the key back in to start it - the tumbler thingys have all collapsed or something inside. It has been threatening to do this for some time, and for months (mmm, maybe years) I have been having to put the key in my pocket after I start it cos the key just falls out, and it's been a real fiddle to get it back in. Murphy's Law of course, it happened miles from home, and despite some delicate lock picking had to hotwire it to get her going. Clearly I went to the wrong school....
Locksmith says he'll be able to rebuild it to suit my key....they are very clever these locksmiths, but just in case, I may be on the lookout for good condition original one (I hear bad stories about the pattern ones you get from DSS).

Peter, unless it really has to be an original switch...you have a ton of options.....it's just a switch. I agree about the aftermarket option that replaces OEM (emgo).....they suck...don't waste your $$$.

FINIALLY!!! After breaking a rocker arm, bending a valve and cracking the rocker box, got the valves fixed and head back on and buttoned down. Now waiting on a rocker box!!!!!

Just now glass blasted my second head today.  (The first turned out to be severely cracked around a valve guide from some previous abuse....)  At this moment the 2nd head is in the ultrasonic cleaner for some final cleaning before sending it off to Dr. MRieck for a stage 3 porting job, complete with the ever lusted after 5mm over-sized valve kit, and a set of Mikuni RS34 carbs....

That's nice "period art" Eric, and I love that "chopper", I want to find one like that and just keep it in a corner of my garage for when the mood takes me. I had a cam like that back in 1981 on my first K1, the bearing surface looked like a cotton reel!

Those rear sets do look good Terry, and Mick already asked the same question I was going to ask about reversing the linkage.

If you have a spare stock gear change lever, it will make a good base for an extended lever... (ask me how I know).

As for me - today I decided to wrap my pipes, now I just need to buy some wrap.

I'll get a video and some pics posted soon.  Maybe this weekend if the weather's not horrible.  Been riding it in the cold as long as it's not raining (or raining much at least ;-)) 
Right now I'm just working through some wiring bugs and built a carb sync tool and adapters last weekend. 

And thanks.  I'm not sure if it's a collection or an addiction...though I suppose it really doesn't matter.
