i bought a DID aluminum "shouldered" wheel on fleabay, and the spokes were toast.  ended up polishing the spokes/nipples from my 76k and using them.  polishing the spokes was mind-numbing, i'd do 4 or 5 in a session, then give it up.

Yeah I know Fred, I am a whore, and I like bike parts too. Ooh and I like beer too Dave, but believe it or not, that was apple juice in that glass........ ;D

Anyways, I put the ol' girl back together again, and took it for a short ride. I would have gone further but I realised that I'd forgotten to tighten a couple of fairly unimportant things like the top triple and the fender stays, so I came home, tightened things up, washed it and came inside for a grandpa nap. I was gonna mow the lawn, but hell, that can wait! ;D

Terry I like those mag wheels; who is the manufacturer & are they 18" or 17" ?
They add a lot to the custom look of your bike.

G'Day Mate, thanks for that, the wheels are Henry Abe's (Japanese 70's era aftermarket items) in standard 18"/19" sizes. I love them, no more loose rusty spokes or rusty rims, and much easier to set up the extra front caliper. I do have another set of wheels with rear disc, aluminum Borrani rims and stainless spokes, but I'll save them for another project. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Got my new to me tank today.  Spent the whole day staring at it. ;D  I know I have issues, but right now I'm just happy to have a good solid F tank.  Now for the next big question... What color to paint it?

Rode to work too, in below freezing weather.

Still use the old leather army gloves with the green wool inserts.

I've been retarded....uuuuuhhhh....retired from the army since 1995. And I wore these gloves back them.

I was plagued with the infamous cracked and busted idiot light panel on my 400f.  Back during the Barber's festival, I saw a buddy had a 750 front end he was going to put in the swap meet area (we had a booth) that had a nice condition idiot light panel on it.  It's not the correct OEM black for the 400, but it bolts right up and to me looks great!  He kindly donated it for free! I put a little rubber restore on the gaskets, replaced the bulbs in it and the gauges, and installed a new 35w h4 bulb in my headlight since mine was 65w and would kill the battery (especially with the dyna ignition installed  ::) )

Went for a 90 mile ride to celebrate. Feels like a new bike now!  This is a happy 400 owner (as usual!)

As I mentioned a few pages ago, I wasn't happy with the Tarozzi rearset gear shifter linkage setup, so I stuffed around for a couple of hours trying to make it right, but it wasn't gonna happen, so I ended up drilling a hole and it works perfectly now. The weather is hot, but overcast and threatening rain for the next few days, so I thought I best go for a ride before it gets worse.

The bike is running really nicely, and when the engine gets on the cam at around 6000 RPM, it rockets forward like a modern bike, but the wail coming out of the 30+ year old Yoshi pipe was pure 1970's race bike. There's a police blitz going on around Melbourne leading up to Christmas, so I had to find a nice quiet "private" road to wang it out to 120 MPH in 4th gear, before I ran out of road. (and balls) On the way home it started to miss and fart, I knew it was low on fuel, so I switched it to reserve, but, reserve wasn't working!

I managed to roll into my driveway before the engine cut out completely, so there must be some crap in the pet cock (he he....) so I'll try to get that sorted tomorrow before my "Hand Brake" drags me out of the garage and makes me mow the damn lawn. Cheers, Terry. ;D

She's lookin' dangerous mate.  8)

It took me nearly 8 hours to mow half of the block here last weekend and needs doing again already after the rain this week.
Me mate reckons that I should have a lawn sale and sell it for a dollar a foot.  ;D

The bikes looking magic Terry and it sounds as if she's roarin' like a loco at full song.

Rode up to Terry's before he took off to go rock sight seeing (they are real nice rocks there Terry, can't quite see them all for that rainbow bike in the way though).

Then rode down to the city to visit another mechanic friend and shot the breeze over bike stuff.

Then rode it home.
