Projects are the best excuse reason to buy tools  ;D

Started the K3 yesterday and let her warm up, been a month since it ran. Man it sounded good, can't wait for spring. By spring the bike is going to have new sprockets, new X-Chain, new rear rim and spokes, new seat, oil pump O-rings, and a restored early CB backrest for the Mrs on it!
Also have my new air compressor and air tools and hose ready for action! Thanks to my "Wife" for a GREAT Birthday present!  :D :D :D

chopped and mounted the front fender.

had a couple of dings on the leading edge, so i swapped front-to-rear.  that left the grommet for the speedo unused, until i secured the brake line to it.  got a little creative with the trailing edge, came out ok.

installed the speedo cable, bled the brakes, front end is done.  yeehaaw!

I was finally able to remove the two bottom  6mm bolts on the 550F forks. Now its time to clean, polish them and put back together.

Edit------------NVM, one bolt keeps spinning and wont come out...#$%*

Getting it ready for winter. I did a fresh oil change, attached a 3 foot fuel line to the petcock and drained all the gas into the S10.  Removed the battery and the seat and brought them inside to keep warm and happy over the winter. Things have been very dry lately so I just left the cap off the gas tank inside the garage so it could air out.  Just brought the gas tank inside and fogged the inside with WD40.  Next up is to put a little oil in each cylinder and give it a few slow kicks to coat the walls and remove the carbs to bring inside as well for a full cleaning. Put the bike on it's center stand, throw a plastic painting drop cloth loosely over the stripped down bike to avoid dust settling and lock it up for winter. Once it warms up in spring the bike will be running better than it did the day i parked it!

I split the case and pulled the cylinder off with the pistons and rods still in them.  I knocked three out and still can't get the fourth to move! >:(

Have you got access to an oven mate? If so, put your cylinder block in it, and heat it up to 400 deg F for 30 minutes or so. Carefully (wearing thick welding gloves or the like) place your block on a thick flattened out cardboard box to protect the fins (and your floor or bench) and smack that piston out with a block of wood and a mallet.

If the piston still won't come out , heat it up again and tap the sleeve out of the block. Once out of the block you can try heating it again to sufficiently expand the sleeve so you can tap the piston out. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

One thing I've seen done with outboards that have gone swimming in the salt chuck is to put Coke Classic in the bores for 30 min to an hour  DO NOT leave it there, flush with fresh water thoroughly or it WILL do damage.  But I have seen some nasty stuff come apart fast, things I never believed before I saw it.

Looks great Picasoo! Bet it will run as good as it looks too  ;) I like the depth with the black cylinder fins too. Will remember that when I have to rebuild my motor someday. Have a great Holiday season!

Contemplated oil temp measuring and oil cooling options whilst surfing the net looking for dip stick oil temp gauges.

Went over to the dark side and purchased a vintage sidecar to race next season.  It's a single cam, but of the Yamaha XS persuasion.  There's a dustbin fairing for the front, and a lot of prep work to get it up to my standards. :)

It's an XS650 bored to the class limit, 750.  Should be good for about 120+mph down the back straight at Mosport. ;D ;D ;D
